Quarterbacks Ricky Morgan and Mitch Kelly filled in for an injured Ryan Mar- tin. The Raiders were able to keep a normally explosive Panthers of- fense in check for most of the af- ternoon. There was solid defen- sive line play led by Ryan Martin, David Edwards, Mitch Kelly and Michael Golden. Linebackers ase possible by the fine blocking of Bret Storrs, Kyle Piskorik and Ricky Morgan backed up the line. The defensive secondary inter- cepted twice, once by Peter Cap- itano and once by Tanner Gattu- SO. As a result of this victory, the Raiders improved to 8-2 and will meet the Dallas Jr. Mounts in to- day’s Super Bowl. The Kingston Township Raid- ers C team opened the playoffs with a thrilling 6-0 overtime vic- tory against the Duryea Wildcats. Battling the field conditions and a strong Wildcats team, the Raiders were able to keep the game scoreless with some great defensive play from Devin Rob- bins, Josh Holdredge, Michael Anderson, Michael Doggett, Ma- son Gattuso and Derek Answini. The game entered overtime where Duryea got the ball first on the 10-yard line with four oppor- tunities to score. The Raiders de- fense held and took possession at the 10 with four plays of its own. KT got the ball to the 1-yard line with only fourth down re- maining when David Schuster was able to punch it in from there. The blocking was solid all day with Carl Markowski, Nate Ma- ransky, Andrew Grabowski and Michael Luksic all playing well. The Raiders take on the Exeter Panthers in the Super Bowl at 11:15 a.m. today, Now. 1, at Lake- Lehman High School. Exeter 8 Dallas 0 The Dallas Jr. Mounts C team lost an 8-0 nail biter last Sunday to the undefeated Exeter Pan- thers. . Both teams moved the ball well in the first half, but couldn’t put it in the endzone as the first half ended in a scoreless tie. To open the third quarter, Exe- ter returned a punt 71 yards for a touchdown which accounted for the only score of the game. With just under five minutes remaining, Dallas took control at its own 35-yard line and drove the ball all the way down to the Exe- ter 3-yard line. The Panthers’ de- fense came up with a huge stop on fourth down to end the game. Ethan Zawatski, Jay Bittner and Todd Phillips made big plays on offense. The defense, led by Connor Maloney, Jerry Ogurkis, Dalton Simpson, Michael Hun- tington and Blaine Rex, held the potent Exeter offense to zero points. D TEAM Dallas 28 Kingston Township 8 The Kingston Township Raid- ers defeated the Dallas Jr. Mounts, 28-8, in last Sunday’s playoff game. The Raiders jumped out to an early lead with a 60-yard run on the first play of the game by De- von Butwin. The Jr. Mounts an- swered with a meticulous drive capped by a Hunter Love touch- down run. After the first big play, the Dal- las defense, led by Kurtis Ryniec, Alex Hajkowski, Christian Sebas- tianeli and Jared Adamski, kept Raiders Michael Starbuck and Matt Maransky in check for the balance of the game. Ryniec and Hajkowski each madé¢ multiple tackles behind the line of scrim- mage. Colin Ziess, Michael Lukasav- age, Josh Peters and Matt Luka- savage controlled the offensive line of scrimmage opened run- ning lanes in the second half. Xander Shaner took advantage of these holes to tack on two touch- downs for the Mounts. On the last drive, Jack Gallis made some key blocks to allow Freddie Lombardo to score the game-sealing touchdown. The win improves the Jr. Mounts record to 10-0 on the sea- son and to secure a place in this week’s Super Bowl.
