Born on Sept. 15, 1917 in Port Huron, Mich., she worked as a registered nurse in pediatric hos- pitals in Chicago, Milwaukee, Ann Arbor and Detroit. BARBER - Dawn Lee, 51, of Harveys Lake, died Monday, Oct. 12, 2009 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital after a brief illness. She was born in New Brun- swick, N.J. COWHER - Hazle, 83, a resi- dent of Ann’s Grove, Tunkhan- nock, died Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009. Born in Hazleton on July 3, 1926, she graduated from Hazle- ton High School. Surviving are her sons, Henry Scheitrumpf, Scranton; and James Scheitrumpf, Hazleton; daughters, Margaret Mullen, Wyoming; Patricia Zubey, Allen- town; Anna Scheitrumpf, N.C.; and four grandchildren. GOLUBOCK - June Blum, of Newberry Estate, Dallas, died Monday, Oct. 19, 2009. Born July 13, 1925 in Wilkes- Barre, she attended Meyers High School, Goucher College and Simmons College. In her later years, she attended classes at the New School at NYU in New York City. She was the first woman presi- dent of Temple Israel and the first woman vice-president of the Jew- ish Community Center. She was a president of the Temple Israel Sisterhood and Hadassah. She served on many boards, includ- ing Ecumenical Enterprises, Jew- ish Federation of Greater Wilkes- Barre, Home Health Services, Northeast Philharmonic, United Way, Interfaith Council, General Hospital Auxiliary, Council of Jewish Women, Luzerne County Medical Society and many oth- ers. Surviving are his sons, Joseph H., of Loyalville; and Robert J., of Harveys Lake; four grandchil- dren; two great-granddaughters; and a sister, Helen Jacobs, of Sha- vertown. KELLER - Joseph W., of Ander- son Road, Tunkhannock, died Monday, Oct. 19, 2009 at his home after a lengthy illness. Born in Kingston on August 27, 1932, he was a graduate of Tunkhannock High School, Class of 1950, and served in the Army as a paratrooper, serving with the 508 Airborne. He was the president of Keller Crushing and Screening Inc. in Tunkhannock. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Helen Kester Keller; son, David, of Tunkhannock; daugh- ters, Linda, of North Port, Fla.; Leslie Mulhern, of Nicholson; brothers, Jay, of Ashville, N.C; Allen “Butch,” of Honesdale; sis- ters, Vera VanDorn, of Kerners- ville, N.C.; Jean Catron, of D’Iber- ville, Miss.; and Lois Klimas, of Taylor; three grandchildren; a great-grandson; many nieces. KING - Jane Lois, 78, of Tunk- hannock, died Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009. Born in Passaic, N.J., she re- tired from the Tunkhannock Area School District as a teacher’s aide. She was an active member of the Tunkhannock Baptist Church as an AWANA Leader. Surviving are her sons, Robert, of Shavertown; Richard, of New- town, Conn.; and Roy, of Tunk- hannock; daughter, Ruth Re- mington, of Tunkhannock; broth- er, Marvin Schoonfield, of Brick, N.J.; sisters, Betty Davis, of Meshoppen; and Dorothy Krau- ter, of Knoxville, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; and one great- granddaughter.
