By 2004, a dance called Dallas Days was added to the festivities, making the festival a three-day event. ® This year, the Seventh Annual Dallas Harvest Festival will be held from Friday, Sept. 18, through Sunday, Sept. 20, throughout downtown Dallas. This year’s Harvest Festival activities began on Saturday, Aug. 29, at Dallas United Methodist Church with the first of two evenings of the Best of Open Mic Contest which is replacing the Har- vest Idol Contest held in previous years. Participants can sign up the night of the event to read poetry and prose or perform music. Comedy is also allowed. A second night of Best of Open Mic will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19, at Dallas United Methodist Church. Participants are allowed to take part in both Best of Open Mic nights; however, they will have to choose which night they want to be judged. Three winners will be asked to per- form at the Dallas Harvest Festival on Sunday, Sept. 20. The Sixth Annual Dallas Days Dance was held one week prior to the festival this year because of a scheduling con- flict at the venue.
