Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was a graduate of GAR High School, Class of 1970, and Wil- liamsport Community College. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and was a recipient of the AF Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the AF Longevity Service Award Ribbon. He was formerly aplogid by the Union Paper Supply Company and lastly by Golden Business Machines, Kingston. Surviving are his wife of 10 years, the former Patricia Pryce; stepsons, Jason and Jor- dan, both of Dallas; Joey, of Ashley; Joshua, of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren; sisters, Charlotte Smith and Rosanne Waunner, both of Virginia; Mar- lene Dellarte, of Larksville; nieces and nephews. DEMPSKI - Robert E., Ph.D., 75, of Dresher, died Friday, July 24, 2009 at Abington Memorial Hospice, Warminster. Born on a farm in Center Moreland on July 3, 1934, he attended a two-room grade school in Center Moreland. He was a graduate of King- ston High School and, after re- ceiving a Breyer’s Scholarship, graduated from the Philadel phia College of Pharmacy & Science with a Bachelor of Sci- ence degree in Pharmacy in 1956. He earned a doctorate in pharmaceutics from the Univer- sity of Wisconsin in 1960. As a graduate student, he received the Rennebohm Award for ex- cellence in teaching. For 35 years, he was employ- ed at Merck and Co., West Point, Pa., where he held sever- al positions and retired as Di- rector of Pharmaceutical Devel- opment in 1995. He held seven patents and had 12 publications in his name. He was a regis- tered pharmacist in Pennsylva- nia since 1956 and a member of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists. Dempski was a horticulture volunteer at the Morris Arbore- tum in Chestnut Hill, a founder of the Nockamixon Sailing Club and a Fourth Degree member of Knights of Colum- bus, Notre Dame Council, Am- bler. He also served as Grand Knight from 2000-2002. He was also a member of St. Alphonsus Church in Maple Glen for 41 years. : Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Margaret (Pinker) Dempski; children, Anne Mess- ner, Ph.D.; Sarah Koch; and Robert E. Born in Pottsville, she was a graduate of Meyers High School, Wilkes Barre, Class of 1943, and received her degree as a registered nurse from Lu- zerne County Community Col- lege in 1979. She had resided in Bethel, Conn., where she was a licensed realtor. She returned to Dallas in the early 1970s and was employed by the State of Pennsylvania at Clarks Summit State Hospital, retiring from the State Correc- tional Institution, Dallas. She was a member of the Mensa Society and a volunteer at the Back Mountain Memo- rial Library. Surviving are her son, Parke E. He many business ventures, including a restaurant, a sport- ing goods store, car hauling and Martin's Service Station. He also hauled steel and ma- chinery around the country for many companies in the Wyom- ing Valley. He was a AAA service pro- vider in the Back Mountain ar- ea since 1978 and had been a member of the Rattlesnake Rod and Gun Club, Noxen, the Kun- kle United Methodist Church, was a founding member of the Back Mountain Enduro Riders and a lifetime honorary mem- ber of the Harveys Lake Fire Department. KINGSTON TOWNSHIP PURCHASES NEW TRUCK AND PAVER The Kingston Township Board of Supervisors recently took delivery of a LeeBoy Paver and a 2009 10-ton International Dump Truck purchased through the Pennsylvania Capital City Vehicle and Equipment Contract for the Kingston Township Pub- lic Works Department. Brandon Harding grabs three silver medals at Keystone Games Brandon Harding, 16, of Dal- las won three silver medals in swimming at the Keystone State Games recently held in York. Harding represented the Po- cono region, competing in the breaststroke, backstroke and freestyle events. He completed the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:07.23, the 100-yard backstroke in 1:09 and the 200-yard frees- tyle in 2:10.06. Harding, who will enter his junior year at Dallas High School, is a member of the Dal- las High School swim team coached by Romayne Mosier and is a member of the MTAC summer swim team coached by Matthew Stretanski.
