Members of the Lake Silk- worth Lions, the Harvey’s Lake Lions and Dallas Lions con- verged at Grotto Pizza and invit- ed Clemson to speak not only about her experience as 2008 Lu- zerne County Fair Queen, but al- so her responsibilities to the 116 county fairs as a spokesperson for the Dept of Agriculture. Clemson is the first Luzerne County resident to win the state title. The daughter of Trudy and Paul Clemson, Clemson recently graduated from Dallas High School where she was played soc- cer and field hockey. She received the Lt Michael J Cleary Memo- rial Award, the July Selenski Me- morial Award, the US Marines Outstanding Academic Achieve- ment Award and the Junior Engi- neering Technology Team Award. Clemson will attend The Uni- versity of Scranton this fall to be- come a veterinarian. Born May 31,1953 in Kingston, he was a graduate of Central Ca- tholic High School and attended King’s College. He was a veteran serving with the U.S. Navy. Prior to his retirement in 2004, he was employed by the Depart- ment of Corrections for 27 years at SCI Dallas and SCI Waymart. Born on September 5, 1923, in Kiev, Ukraine, she immigrated to the United States in 1949 with her husband and her daughter. Prior to her retirement, she was employed for 35 years by the former Ann-Will Garment, King- ston. She was a member of St. Vladi- mir Ukrainian Catholic Church, Edwardsville, the St. Vladimir’s Women’s Society and the church choir. Surviving are her daughter, Ol- ga Baettig, Brick, N.J.; two grand- children, and five great-grand- children. SCHOLLENBERGER - Do- rothy M., 89, formerly of Wyom- ing and Orange, died Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at the Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Cen- ter, Dallas. Born in Hamburg, Germany on May 3, 1920, she became a U.S. ci- tizen when she was young. She graduated from Girls Com- mercial High School in Brooklyn, N.Y. She worked in the grocery store in Orange for many years and for Social Security for 20 years until her retirement. She was a member of the Cheerio class of the Orange Methodist Church and the Har- mony Chapter No. 58 Order of the Eastern Star. Surviving are her son, Thomas G., Largo, Fla.; a daughter, Joan Yanovitch, of Lords Valley; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. TREGAN - Andrew, 76, Kun- kle, died Friday, June 26, 2009 at Valley Crest Nursing Home. Born in Luzerne on July 7, 1932, he attended Luzerne High School. He was a Veteran of the Korean War. He was employed at Valley Crest, retiring in 1999.
