That rivalry was again ap- parent on the baseball field when the Black Knights and the Mountaineers did battle last week with the Lehman boys coming away with a 12-8 victory. Bobby Peron got the win for Lake-Lehman while Mark Noyalis was tagged with the loss. BACK MOUNTAIN LITTLE LEAGUE Red Sox 8 Astros 6 Jamie Flores and Jayson Strausser each banged out four hits as the Red Sox tripped the Astros, 8-6. Josh Orlandini doubled and Ja- cob Ondish had two hits in the win. On defense, the Red Sox turned two double plays and had outstanding defense by Josh Or- landini and Ryan Martin. Martin picked up the win on the hill. Noah Gorski and Anthony Pace had two hits and Matt Cra- gle doubled in the loss. Gorski pitched well in relief, giving up only one run. As3 Rangers 2 Aaron Napkora had 11 strike- outs in four innings of work as the A’s defeated the Rangers, 3-2. Omar Nijmeh pitched two in- nings in relief for the save. Nij- meh and Spencer Bowanko each had two hits to lead the attack while Aaron Yurko and Chris Fer- rara played strong defense. Chad Debona pitched well in the loss with 10 strikeouts in five innings. Debona, Donald Michal- sin and Christian Wargo had hits for the i w Rangers. Peter Capitano and Brendan Baloh led the de- fense. Red Sox 11 Yankees 5 Jason Anderson had three hits with two doubles as the Red Sox clubbed the Yanks, 11-5. Jamie Flores and Jayson Strausser had three hits, Josh Or- landini had two hits and three runs scored and Ryan Martin doubled in the win. The Yankees were led by Zach Connolly with three hits in the loss. Thomas Kane doubled and Cody Coolbaugh and Nick Mul- doon also had hits for the Yanks. As7 Astros 6 Aaron Napkora hit his second home run of the year to lead a 12- hit attack as the A’s beat the As- tros, 7-6. Elijah Geise, Omar Nijmeh, Spencer Bowanko and Aaron Yur- ko all had two hits for the Als. Spencer Bowanko and Aaron Yur- ko struck out seven in the win. Nicholas James had three hits, including a home run to lead the Astros. Noah Gorski added a tri- ple. James was the losing pitcher. Red Sox 14 Dodgers 3 Ryan Martin clubbed the first home run of his career as the Red Sox dumped the Dodgers, 14-3. Josh Orlandini had three dou- bles while Jamie Flores, Jayson Strausser and Thomas Ketchner added doubles in the win. Jacob Kolojechick and Kyle Pisorik each had singles. Jason Ander- son, Josh Orlandini and Ryan Martin combined to struck out 10 and give up one hit in pitching for the Red Sox. Steven Knecht had a double for the Dodgers in the loss. Aidan Mc\Laughlin had a nice defen- sive play on first base. Yanks 10 Phillies 4 Zach Connelly smashed four hits and scored three runs as the Yanks downed the Phil's, 10-4. Nick Muldoon picked up the win and combined with Morgan Salter and Cody Coolbaugh to hold the Phillies to three hits while striking out seven. Salter also doubled and had three RBI in the win. Jeremy Jayne and Michael Minsavage doubled for the Phil- lies and combined to knock in four runs in the loss. Phillies 11 Rangers 6 Jeremy Jayne led the offense eich with three hits and scored three runs as the Phillies got by the Rangers, 11-6. Lee Eckert III had two hits, in- cluding a big two-run triple. Chad Phillips added two hits, in- cluding a double and Daniel Min- gey and Michael Minsavage had two singles each for the Phils. Ro- sario Bevevino was the winning pitcher as he, along with Eckert, combined for eight strikeouts. Donald Michalisin led the Rangers with three hits and Bren- don Baloh doubled. Chad Debo- na ripped a triple and was out- standing on the mound as he re- corded eight strikeouts in the loss. SENIOR LEAGUE Back Mountain 11 GWA 2 Back Mountain opened the Se- nior Little league season with an 11-2 victory over Greater Wyom- ing Area (GWA) Indians. Kyle Caffrey was the winning pitcher and Dave Drahus took the loss. Kevin Cope and Zack Yursha led the offense with three hits each, including a double. TJ Schultz and Cody Poepperling led the defense. Drahus had a double. Bandits on short end of score The Back Mountain Bandits lacrosse team came out strong, scoring first early in the first quarter against the Forks but wound up on the short end of a final 8-3 score. Keith Gillette scored the first goal for the Bandits while at- tackers Ryan Cohen, Luke Ya- ple, Adam Adelman, Xavier Bar- ber, Michael Santora and Con- nor Duffy helpedthe offense. The middies of Stone Man- nello, RJ Driscoll, Ricky Mor- gan, Corey Metz, Duncan Breig and David Yape played well, en- abling Gillete to score two more goals for the Bandits before halftime. The Bandits’ defense of Owen Morgan, Noah Mirro, Justin Hutchins, Dylan Hakim and AJ Spears played hard dur- ing the game while Bandits goa- lie Michael Golden had several saves.
