FORD - MERCURY I am writing this letter on the evening of February 24, 2009, and can’t help but think of how excited I was exactly 38 years ago in anticipation of our Grand Opening of Gateway Ford scheduled for the next day. That excitement made it difficult for me to sleep that night. Unfortunately, a lot of our friends and neighbors are now losing sleep at night, but it’s not because of an exciting event in their lives. Rather, many are fearful about the trying economic times we are reminded about on an almost hourly basis by just about every media outlet. It seems you can’t open a newspaper or turn on a TV or radio without hearing more negative economic news the media feels compelled to report, even when the news item may have been manufactured by the news source. Many experts agree that these difficult times have been exacerbated by the self-fulfilling prophecy created by the mainstream media. As ‘a Ford Dealer and a proud part of the great American Automobile Industry, we certainly feel the pain of our economic community, as does our manufacturer, Ford Motor Company. Nevertheless, after announcing some pretty tough financial results through the end of last year. Ford still said it sees no need to ask government loans. CEO Alan Mulally said, “Right now I think with everything planned in the fiscal and monetary policy, I am very comfortable that we are going to turn things around in the second half of the year.” That doesn’t mean Ford Motor Company isn’t using lines of credit, they are. But they did it the old fashioned way, they went out to banks and financial markets and found financing, while putting up collateral just like you could have to do. Now that doesn’t mean there aren’t some good reasons to help GM and Chrysler, but we are proud of Ford Motor Company for fighting this through on their own. We are also proud of the great product line Ford is allowing us to offer. Our vehicles are safe (more top Safety-Rated vehicles than any other manufacturer), High Quality (now in a virtual tie with Toyota and Honda), good looking and fun to drive. Ford Motor Company actually GAINED market share in the last three months of 2008. Ford Motor Company has said despite the economic challenges they are NOT pulling back on the most important thing of all: PRODUCT. We are Proud to be a Ford Dealer and feel fortunate to be associated with a great team at Ford Motor Company. We have been part of your community for nearly four decades and would like to thank all of our past and future customers for supporting Gateway Ford-Mercury. We also hope you will consider a Ford if you are in the market for a new vehicle, and are looking forward to our future with Ford and our community. er 156 East Tioga Street, Tunkhannock, PA 18657 Phone: 570-836-3135 or 570-945-3460 « Fax: 570-836-4929 Email: gtwford @epix.net * www.GatewayFordMercury.com | "OVE "OMPAN}Y “Bac ck tO Basics: : v9 ry A sinisonn Fireplace and Stove Shoppe & Much, Much More 0 LETT CT HE LUET EL : ence th ie Difference”.
