Glorious Hope 1s presented The miracle of Christmas was celebrated at the Sweet Valley Church of Christ as the choir presented the musical drama, “Glorious Hope.” Donations were accepted at the concert to benefit “House of Hope,” an or- phanage for girls in Port Au Prince, Haiti. Written and directed by Tom Smith, the show featured cast members Lori Evans, Tom Smith, Ben Steltz, Tim Price, Katie Heindel, Dave Spurlin, Amanda Spurlin, Terry Price, Donna Sutliff and Rob Pemble- ton. Deb Smith and Beth Pemble- ton were prompters, Doug Evans was the sound engineer, Ryan Evans handled lighting, Alisa Evans was in charge of pro- jection and John Harvey was the technical director. The Soliders of Christ youth group at the Center Moreland United Methodist Church will help celebrate 20 years of caring with youth across the nation in fighting hunger through the “Souper Bowl of Caring” mission pro- ject by giving and serving. Each year a special ‘prayer is shared: “Lord, as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game, help us to be mindful of those without even a bowl of soup to eat. Amen.” All youth are called to join the 2009 “Souper Bowl Of Caring” on Super Bowl weekend, which is Saturday, Jan. 31, and Sunday, Feb.l. On Saturday, youth are asked Service Blitz, Soldiers of Christ will take part in Souper Bowl of Caring to have a service blitz where they “serve” in some way to ¢ help feed the hungry. On Sunday at the worship ser- vice of their church, youth will be at the door with “soup pots” for monetary do- nations that will be given to a local soup kitchen or food bank. Born and raised in Kingston, he was a U.S. Air Force veteran, attaining the rank of Corporal. He was employed for 40 years at the Acme Warehouse, retiring in 1991.
