Harvest Festival last Sunday, de- spite unseasonably warm and humid tem- peratures. They enjoyed food, entertain- ment, vendor showcases and lots of cam- araderie as they mingled with friends and neighbors. Among the goings-on around Main Street, the Harvest Festival features sever- al contests held annually. Winners of those contests are listed here. Dallas Harvest Festival Idol Contest: Leah Conklin, 16, of Shavertown, first place; Stephen Stec, 18, of Dallas, second place; Blanca Frederick, 18, of Dallas, third place. Apple Pie Contest: Maggie Michael, first place; Mary Petty, second place; Jane Elston, third place; Michele Carter, honor- able mention. wn Amateur Chili Contest: Lewlie Newell, first place; Margaret Newell, runner-up. A total of 1,363 ballots were cast in the Kiss the Pig Contest with proceeds to ben- efit the Back Mountain Food Pantry. A check in the amount of $682 will be pre- sented to the pantry by the Dallas Harvest Festival Committee in the near future.
