Sunday, August 17, 2008 THE DALLAS POST PAGE 7e VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL HELD AT CCCC Cross Creek Community Church held its Sixth Annual Vacation Bible School July 21- 25 with over 120 children from the Back Mountain and sur- rounding areas participating. The theme of this year's VBS was “Power Lab: Discovering Jesus' Miraculous Power." Children ages 3 years to sixth grade learned about God's awesome power through games, crafts, songs, relevant Bible stories and scientific ex- periments. The church build- ing was converted into a sci- ence lab, complete with slime for this annual event. More than 70 people volunteered to make this year's event hap- pen. SCHOOL BRIEFS MU to dedicate new residence hall Misericordia University will dedicate its newest facility, the Monsignor Andrew J. McGo- wan Student Residence Hall, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 22. Monsignor John Bendik will perform the blessing. The pub- lic is invited to attend the cere- mony. The building bears the name of Monsignor McGowan, a Misericordia Trustee and Trust- ee Emeritus who provided leadership, dedication and humor throughout more than (5 years of valuable service to “the campus. Monsignor embod- ied the spirit of the Religious Sisters of Mercy, the founders and sponsors of Misericordia, and their tenets of mercy, ser- vice, justice and hospitality. The first residence hall con- structed on campus since 1994, the $5.9 million McGowan Hall opened in March and serves as home to 116 students. Lake-Lehman HS plans open house The Lake-Lehman Junior/ Senior High School will host an Open House August 26-28. This yearly event allows seventh, eighth and ninth-grade students to try lockers, locate rooms and become familiar with the layout of the school. Information perti- nent to the Open House will be mailed home shortly before. Students must bring this in- formation with them on the day they choose to visit the school.
