Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was a graduate of GAR Memo- ial High School, Wilkes-Barre, ss of 1981, where she was a and member and cheerleader. She furthered her education at Luzerne County Community College where she earned an associate’s degree. She worked with the Mead- ows Nursing Center as a nurs- ing assistant. She was a mem- ber of Gate of Heaven Church, Dallas. Surviving are her parents, Gerald and Patricia Bogumil; husband, Charles; children, Ryan and Megan; sisters, Con- nie George, Wilkes-Barre; and Joyce Nelson, Dallas; brother, Gerald Bogumil, Mountain Top; several nieces and neph- ews. DORNBLAZER - Elbert Leo- nard, of Center Moreland, died Thursday, May 22, 2008. Born in Center Moreland on April 16, 1914, he worked for Sordoni Construction Co. as an electrician in the 1930s and also Sun Ship and Dry Dock in Chester, Pa. as a welder/fore- man during war time. Surviving are a son, Robert G.; stepchildren, David Harris, Himsdale, N.Y.; and Janice A. Miller, of Clifford; several grandchildren. GOMAN - Francis “Red”, 85, of Sweet Valley, died Wednes- day, May 21, 2008 at the Hos- pice Care of the VNA, Wilkes- e. @:. in Wilkes-Barre on Ja- nuary 29, 1923, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Prior to retirement, he was employed as a skilled brick layer by various construc- tion companies in the area. He was a member of Our La- dy of Mount Carmel Church, Lake Silkworth. Surviving are his wife, the former Helen Bagienski; and a sister, Irene Nowakowski, Wilkes-Barre. GRIFFIN - Josephine “Jo” Kane, 95, of Tunkhannock, for- merly of Towanda, died Sun- day at Ann's Grove Personal Care Home in Tunkhannock. Born in South Waverly on June 29, 1912, she was employ- ed as a secretary to the princi- pal of Waverly High School in Bradford County prior to her marriage. When she and her hus- band moved into the Towanda ar- ea in 1951, she was frequently asked to work for Bradford Coun- ty Bureau of Elections at election time. Surviving are sons, William E. PATTON - Marshall L., 83, of Dallas, died Friday, May 23, 2008 at Hospice Care of the VNA, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Larksville on Septem- ber 15, 1924, he was taken prison- er of war in Germany while serv- ing in the Army during World War II. He was employed by the Glen Alden Coal Co. for several years and later retired from Atlas Chain Co., West Pittston, in 1986. Marshall was a member of the Plymouth Christian Church. Surviving are his wife, the for- mer Jean Jenkins; daughters, Sandra Whitesell, of Sweet Val- ley; and Lynne Onyshczak, of Shavertown; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. She also worked part-time for the Rumbaugh Clinic and ran the Crawford Smith Lumber Compa- ny office. A member of Prince of Peace Episcopal Church, she was active with church groups, The United Way, Wilkes-Barre General Hos- pital Ladies Auxiliary and Little Theatre Surviving are her husband, Ralph; daughter, Susan Lehrmitt, of New York City; son, S. June Back Mountain blood drives set The American Red Cross will conduct two blood drives in the Back Mountain during the month of June. The first drive will be from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Monday, June 2, at the Dallas American Legion on Memorial Highway. Anyone on the Country Club schedule is eligible to donate at this drive. The second drive will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18, at Yalick Farms Luxury Condos and Shoppes, Routes 415 and 118 in Dallas Township. : The double red unit will be at both drives. The Red Cross requests that all donors bring identification and their Red Cross blood card. First-time donors will re- ceive a card after their first do- nation.
