Karen Boback, R-Harveys Lake, recently spoke to participants in the Women's Mentoring Program at Misericordia University during the bi-annual lecture in the Heri- tage Room of the Mary Kintz Bevevino Library. The program is organized through the Insalaco Center for Career Development at Misericordia University. Active and retired women executives work directly with female students offering men- toring, coaching and networking advice in the students’ field of interest. Individual professional development has become an important part of preparing for entry into the professional working environment, career advancement and lifelong career management. Back Mountain students participating in the program, including their majors, are Susan Ruotolo of Noxen, management; Amanda Chellis of Tunkhannock, accounting; and Julie Oliver of Dallas, pre-law. THANKS MARKET Shavertown Volunteer Fire Company recently presented Thomas' Family Market with a plague to show their appreciation for all they have done to support the fire company. Thomas’ Family Market will hold a barbecue chicken dinner on Saturday, June 7, to raise money for the Shaver- town Volunteer Fire Company. The market will also sponsor a golf tournament to raise money for three Back Mountain fire companies on July 16. ‘READING WITH RED’ AT I'M BIG NOW Students at I'm Big Now Preschool/Kindergarten in Dallas were treated to a “Reading with Red" program, courtesy of Red Robin Restaurant in Wilkes-Barre. The program included story time, tips for keeping the body and mind healthy and the impor- tance of reading. Students were rewarded for their promise to keep reading with a Red Robin Reading Certificate and meal.
