Kids fish just for fun It was a day of fishing fun Sat- urday as the Back Mountain Po- lice Association conducted its Second Annual Fishing Derby at Frances Slocum State Park for children between the ages of 6 and 12 from the Back Mountain and West Side communities. The children fished in a net- enclosed area of the lake stocked with 1,000 trout. Bait and fishing poles were provided, free fish cleaning was available and every child received a gift. Gary Sabulski, age 6, won a prize for the largest golden trout (1 pound); Nathan Maransky, age 8, won a prize for the largest brook trout (1.2 pounds); and Darren Kerdesky, age 7, won a prize for the largest rainbow trout (4.2 pounds). The girls’ bicycle was won by 10-year-old Nathalie Joanlanne and the boys’ bicycle was award- ed to Jefferey Vanesko, age 11.
