Cheryl Cavalari, executive director of Cam- pus Ministries of Northeast Pennsylvania, will be the guest speaker today at the Lehman-Idetown United Methodist Church’s “United Methodist Women Sunday.” Rev. Cavalari was named the Campus Minister of the Year 2002 by the United Methodist Higher Education Foundation. She also re- ceived the President’s Award for Outstanding Program for Religious Diversity Series at Penn State Wilkes-Barre in 2002-2003. A Deacon in Full Connec- tion with the Wyoming Con- ference of the United Meth- odist Church, she has devel- oped and coordinated the ministries of CMNEPA since 1993. Worship begins at 10:30 a.m. and will be followed by a covered dish dinner. LIUMC has organized a group of volunteers to travel to Henderson, Kentucky to assist Appalachian families in need. The group will leave July 20 and return July 26. The project will be to rebuild and refurbish the trailer of a 64-year-old wom- an. There are 11 members from LIUMC attending as well as six members of local churches. A bake sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, in front of “They Grow So Fast” at the Dallas Shopping Center to raise money for the trip. Confirmation will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 11, when eight children will profess their faith. This is also Pentecost Sunday and Mother’s Day. All moth- ers will be honored at that time.
