Local dogs win awards Fran Wallo, of Dallas, and her two Pembroke Welsh Corgis, MACH (Master Agility Champion) Chrissy and Zach, re- cently brought home five qualifying scores in their height division in the American Kennel Club® (AKC) Nation- al Agility Championship in Tulsa, Okla- homa. Six agility dogs and their owners — one dog/handler team in each of the six height categories — were crowned at the event, which brought together over 700 dogs from across the country. Held March 28-30 at the Expo Square in Tulsa, the event demonstrates the highest level of training and teamwork between dog and handler and is the cul- mination of thousands of trials held throughout the year. Agility events allow dogs to demon- strate their athleticism and versatility by racing against the clock and overcoming a challenging course of different obsta- cles. Success requires proper training, as it is a sport of physical skill, control, pa- tience and — most importantly — team- work between handler and dog. There are six different height categories, so dogs compete fairly according to size. | For more information on the event, in- cluding photos and additional results, visit www.akc.org.
