Michael Cleary Golf Tournament set for May 12 The Third Annual 1st Lt. Mi- chael J. Cleary Memorial Fund Golf Tournament will be held on Monday, May 12, at the Wyom- ing Valley Country Club. Proceeds from the tourna- ment benefit the families of fall- en soldiers, wounded veterans and veteran programs by provid- ing the financial assistance they need to continue their healing and recovery. Contributions also support local institutions by pro- viding assistance for educational opportunities and fund pro- grams for children with special needs. Currently, the foundation is working closely with Luzerne County Community College and local agencies to help create awareness and develop pro- grams to provide services for sol- diers and families who are affect- ed by Post Traumatic Stress Dis- order. A completed registration form and donation of $125 per golfer must be received no later than May 1. Included in the donation are 18 holes of golf and cart, gift bag, t-shirt, ball cap, boxed lunch, cocktails and dinner. Prizes for first, second and third place in each flight will also be awarded. Registration starts promptly at 11a.m. and, at 11:45a.m., the $2,500 putting contest and $100,000 par 3 shoot out begin. Every “ACE” on hole #13 will net the lucky golfer a $15,000 cash award! A 12:15 p.m. shotgun start for captain and crew begins the competition with cocktails, dinner and auction following the tournament. Team and individu- al prizes will be awarded at the dinner.
