Born in Eaton Township, Wyoming County, on February 8, 1926, he was a graduate of Tunk- hannock High School, class of 1943. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Ko- rean Conflict. Prior to his retire- ment, he was employed in the janitorial department of the Tunkhannock School District for 29 years. He was also a member of the Meshoppen Biblical Bible Church. Surviving are sons, Stephen, of Denver; Craig, of Palmyra, Pa.; and two grandchildren. IDAROILA - Sister M. Renata, RSM, 91, a member of the Sisters of Mercy of the Mid-Atlantic Community of the Sisters of Mer- cy of the Americas, died Thurs- day, March 20, 2008 at Mercy Center, Dallas. The former Antoinette Idarola, she was born June 13, 1916 in Thomastown. She entered the Sisters of Mercy at Dallas on Feb- ruary 2, 1942 and made her pro- fession of vows on August 16, 1944. Because of her expertise in the culinary arts, Sister Renata served her Sisters of Mercy in a number of convents in the Dio- cese of Altoona/Johnstown for over 50 years. The majority of her service was at Mount Aloysius College in Cresson where she served the chaplains and was on the staff of the Student Support Center. Surviving are her brother, Jo- seph Idarola, Bald Eagle; nieces and nephews; and the Sisters of Mercy of the Mid-Atlantic Com- munity. MIKOLAICHIK - Mary M., 90, of Ransom Road, Dallas, died March 19, 2008 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in Swoyersville, she at- tended Holy Trinity School. Be- fore retiring, she had been em- ployed in area cigar factories and garment factories. She was a member of St. Franc- es Cabrini Church, Carverton, where she taught Sunday school for many years, and the Interna- : i a tional Ladies Garment Workers Union. Surviving are a granddaughter, Heather Mead, Seattle, Wash.; and nieces and nephews. MORTON - John “Reb,” 81, of Harveys Lake, died March 20, 2008 at Veterans Administration Medical Center, Plains Town- ship. Born in Jacksonville, N.C. on April 4, 1926, he had resided at Harveys Lake for the last 20 years. He was employed by Avis Rental Cars and retired from General Electric Corp., Philadel- phia, after 40 years. He also worked for the former Daring’s Market, Dallas. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of Harveys Lake American Legion. Surviving ~~ are daughters, Louise, of Harveys Lake; and Rose Montgomery, of Sugarland, Texas; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. OWENS - Vincent M., 90, a guest at Fernwood Assisted Liv- ing, Sweet Valley, died Sunday, March 16, 2008 in the Inpatient Unit, Hospice Community Care, Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was a graduate of Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre, and attend- ed the Wilkes-Barre campus of Penn State University. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving as a PFC with the 1240th area service unit. He had been a dispensing optician most of his life and had been employed by United Optical and, later, by Bal- ester Optical, both of Wilkes- Barre, retiring in 1980. He was a member of Joseph E. Conlon Post 558, the American Legion, Plains, and the Interna- tional Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union. Surviving are a daughter, Ka- ren Dormio, Hunlock Creek; a sister, Elizabeth Supinski, Swoyersville; several grandchil- dren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. TALCOTT - Daniel H., of West Street, Tunkhannock, and a guest at the Golden Living Cen- ter in Tunkhannock, died Friday, March 21, in the Mercy Hospital Hospice Unit in Scranton. Charles, Salem Ore.; Barry, Ocala, Fla.; five grandchil- dren; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Dal- las United Methodist Church, The Flower Club, Kingston; and the Senior Citizens of Dallas and Kingston. Recently, a surprise party, hosted by her family, was held at the Mercy Center to cele- brate her 87th birthday. Surviving are daughters, Linda Belardinelli, Trucksville; and Au- drey Jolley, Kunkle; sons, Lester Campbell, Dallas, and John Tu- ros Jr., Edwardsville; sister, Ma- rie Covert, North Carolina; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grand- children; and 12 great-great- grandchildren. Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was a graduate of Kingston High School. She worked for many years as a certified nursing assist- ant at Lakeside Manor, Harveys Lake, and the Leader Nursing Home, formerly in Kingston. She also worked as a bartender at the former Cousin Bill's Tavern in Kunkle.
