a ————— Sunday, March 30, 2008 THE DALLAS POST PAGE 3 Flirting for Jun & funds ichael Cherinka and Jeffrey Shaffer stepped ag ¥| out of their educator roles and into the roles of super models recently for a Fun and Flirty Fashion Show at the Dallas Middle School auditori- um. The brainchild of juniors Katrina Heintz and Alex- is Kuzma who coordinated the event as their senior completion project, the fashion show featured 19 models, including 13 girls, nine boys, Cherinka, a teacher at the school; and Shaffer, the school’s prin- cipal. Though the majority of student models were from Dallas High School, two student models were from Lake-Lehman Junior/Senior High School and one from Wyoming Seminary joined in the fun. Heintz got the idea for the show from her older sister, Theresa, who held the first fashion show as her senior project two years ago. After a year with- out a show, Heintz and Kuzma, both models in the original show, decided to start it up again. The girls, neither of whom had any previous design experi- ence, took old clothes and recreated 32 girls’ and 15 boys’ outfits, coordinating male and female outfits. Wyoming Seminary student Lauren Timek styled hair and applied makeup to the models. The girls modeled the show’s look from that of fashion designer Betsy Johnson, using balloons dur- ing the grand finale as Johnson does. The show raised over $600 for the Dallas High School Mini Thon which benefits the Four Diamonds Fund, a non-profit organization that helps fight childhood cancer.
