Born October 8, 1927 in Dal- las, she retired from Paper Magic Troy in 1994 after 27 years of service where she was an inven- tory control clerk. She was active in the First Presbyterian Church of Troy, was a Past Matron of Eastern Star, was on the board of direc- tors of Alparon Park and was in- volved in the Troy Vets Club. Surviving are her daughters, Diane Blackwell-Hutsick, of Ath- ens; Judy Chaapel and Barbie Blackwell, both of Troy; Nancy Oldroyd, of Gillett; sons, Jim and David, both of Troy; 11 grandchil- dren; 10-great-grandchildren; brothers, Elwood Ide and Willis Ide, both of Dallas; Ken Ide, of Demarest, Ga.; Jim Ide, of Wil- liamsport, Md.; sisters, Peg Co- bleigh, of Troy; Barbara Osborn, of Campbell, N.Y.; Jan Russell, of Dallas; several nieces and neph- ews. Main St., Troy, PA FINK - Ida R., 87, formerly of the Back Mountain, died Thurs- day morning, January 10, 2008 at Highland Manor Nursing and Convalescent Center. Born in Lehman, Mrs. Fink re- sided in the Back Mountain for many years until entering High- land Manor four years ago. She a pillar in the Apostolic Church of West Pittston for 55 years under the direction of the late Rev. Charles Webb and the present pastor Rev. Philip Webb. She was employed as a seam- stress in the garment industry until her retirement in 1985. Mrs. Fink was also a member of the In- ternational Ladies Garment Worker’s Union (ILGWU). Surviving are sisters, Fay Ga- veck, of Exeter; and Dorothy Crosby, of New York; five grand- children; several great-grand- sons, great-granddaughters, nieces and nephews. FITZGERALD - Elizabeth L., of Tunkhannock, died Monday, January 14, 2008 at the Golden Care Personal Care Home in Tunkhannock. Born in Wilkes-Barre on March 8, 1945, she was a 1963 graduate of Tunkhannock High School and attended the Eaton Baptist Church and Tunkhan- nock Baptist Church. Surviving is an uncle, Richard Vleveland, of Tunkhannock; and cousins. KING - Carol, a longtime Back Mountain resident, died Friday, January 4, 2008 in Berkeley, Cal- if., after a brief illness. Born in January 1921, she grew up in Chicago and Washington, D.C. She earned her degree in teaching French from Wilson Teachers College in 1941 and worked as secretary, first for the War Department and then for the Chamber of Commerce in Washington. Having moved to Dallas in 1967, she operated her own nurs- ery school for two years. She then obtained a teaching certifi- cate in elementary education and taught first grade at Wyom- ing Seminary Day School from 1969 to 1989. She was a member of the DAR, supported the Dallas library and published exhaustive genealogi- cal research on both her own an- cestry and that of her late hus- band, Hugh. Surviving are a brother, Wal- ter, of Doylestown; and sons, Adrian, of El Cerrito, Calif.; and Randall, of Truckee, Calif. OLIVER - John G., 88, a for- mer resident of Hunlock Creek, died Thursday, January 10, 2008 at Bloomsburg Hospital, Bloomsburg. Born July 26, 1919 in Gillette, Wyo., he was a member of the Town Hill United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Ar- my during World War II. He was employed for United Gas Im- provement Company at Hunlock Creek and retired after over 38 years of service.
