PAGE2 THE POST COMMUNITY Sunday, December 2, 2007 Harvey places in PA pageant Bryn Harvey, of Trucksville, was named third runner-up in Pennsyl- vania’s Outstanding Young Wom- an Program finals on November 24 at Kutztown Area High School. - Harvey, a student at Wyoming Seminary Upper School and the daughter of Jay and Judy Harvey, represented Luzerne County in the program. Miranda Zimmerman, of Stoys- town, representing Somerset County, was named the Pennsyl- vania’s Outstanding Young Wom- an for 2008 and was awarded $5,000 in cash scholarships for capturing the title. She attends North Star High School and also won the performing art award for a self-choreographed tap dance. She received the state medallion, a bouquet of flowers, a color portrait and several additional gifts. First runner-up was Hilary Cald- well, representing Centre County, whoreceived $2000 while Lindsay Fouse, representing Beaver Coun- ty, was named second runner-up and received $1000. The Outstanding Young Wom- an program, now in its 10th year, is a statewide scholarship program for high school senior girls that provides scholarships to deserv- ing young women across the com- monwealth. The program also encourages excellence and promotes a sense of commitment to the future. Be- yond the scholarship awards, the OYW program offers young wom- en opportunities to meet new friends, experience the excite ment of competition, develop their confidence and self-esteem and have fun. Eastern Star ladies to bake Welsh cookies The Dallas Chapter Eastern Star Building As- sociation will bake its fa- mous Welsh cookies for the Christmas holiday. Official leaf collection ends but pickup is still available The Dallas Borough Road Department concluded the 2007 Fall Leaf Vacuuming Collection program on Fri- day, Nov. 30. Borough officials ask resi- dents who still require leaf collection due to the unsea- sonably warm weather to place their leaves in plastic bags or in the green waste recycling containers for col- lection. The borough’s road department personnel will make every effort to collect bags left curbside before the onset of the winter storm season. CHURCH BRIEFS POP changes worship schedule Prince of Peace Episcopal Church, Dallas, will change its Sunday Worship schedule effec- tive today, Dec. 2. Services will be at 8 and 10 a.m. The 8 a.m. service offers the Holy Euchar- ist; the 10 a.m. service offers the Holy Eucharist with music and choir. A Healing Service is avail- able prior to the 10 a.m. service. Sunday School starts at 10 a.m. The third Sunday of the month is a family service with the youth of the parish participating in the service.
