B TEAM Raiders 12 Swoyersville Sailors 0 The Kingston Townhip Raiders B- team earned a berth in the Wyoming Valley Youth Football Conference cham- pionship game with a convincing 12-0 shutout over the Swoyersville sailors last Sunday. The Raiders used touchdown runs from Corey Patrick and Jesse Shaffer to secure the win. A stifling defensive ef- fort led by Kyle Kotulski with 12 tackles along with JT Carey and Robert Wargo (combining for five sacks) prevented the Sailor offense from mounting any substantial threat. The defensive backfield, comprised of Kevin Lazarowicz and Michael Ole- nginski, held the powerful Swoyersville offense to three completions on 12 at- tempts while timely interceptions by Joey Stier and Chris Knecht sealed the victory for the Raiders. The Raiders will play the Dallas Ju- nior Mounts today for the champion- ship at Wilkes-Barre Memorial Stadi- um. C TEAM Raiders 20 Plymouth Shawnee Indians 0 The KT Raiders extended their sea- son record to 10-0 by defeating the Ply- mouth Shawnee Indians, 20-0, in the second round of playoffs. Jr. Mounts A, B and C teams com The Dallas Jr. Mounts A team, which entered playoffs as the No. 1 seed in the Wyoming Valley Junior Football Conference, defeated the Kingston Township Raiders, 46-8, in playoff action last weekend. The Dallas defense held the Raid- ers on their opening drive to 15 yards before taking over the ball on downs. Dallas scored on its first possession with a screen pass from Brett Wanek to Jason Simonovich who broke sev- eral tackles and ran for a 50-yard touchdown. The 2-point conversion was scored on a pass from Shane Dunn to Simonovich. Following a fumble recovery by Dunn, Brett Wanek of Dallas connect- ed again with Simonovich on a 50- yard bomb, good for another Dallas touchdown. Dunn scored the 2-point conversion. In the second quarter, Ben Kon re- covered a fumble which led to a 25- yard touchdown by Wanek. Dunn scored the 2-point conversion, mak- ing the score 24-0. Before halftime, Dallas lineman David Gallagher jumped on a loose ball on the kickoff, returning the ball to the Jr. Mounts. Dallas capitalized when the offensive line consisting of Nick Evans, David Gallagher, Jordan Visneski, Chris Ostrum, Nick Kon, Stephen Mingey and Ben Kon provid- ed several opportunities for running backs Austin Smith and Zach Macos- ky to rush for 40 yards. The drive was completed with a 17-yard touchdown run by Brett Wanek. Smith scored the 2-point conversion. During the third quarter, Logan Bullock, Billy Dixon, Smith, Wanek and Dunn gained yardage for the Jr. Mounts which led to a 10-yard touch- down by Zach Macosky. Billy Dixon scored the 2-point conversion. Also gaining yardage for Dallas was Chris Ostrum and Ben Kon. The final score of the game came when Jr. championship gs Austin Smith, of the Dallas Junior Mounts, gets around John Dogherty of the Kingston Raiders during last Sun- day's youth football game between the two. The Junior Mounts were victorious and advance to today's Super Bowl against the Swoyersville Sailors. Mount Austin Smith picked up a fum- ble and ran for a 50-yard touchdown. The entire Dallas defensive unit played tough and held the Raiders to just eight points. Dallas will play the Swoyersville Sailors in the Super Bowl today at Wilkes-Barre Area Memorial Stadi- um. B TEAM Junior Mounts 22 Kingston Huskies 0 The Dallas B Team is headed to the Super Bowl after an impressive 22-0 win over Kingston last Sunday. Although there was no scoring in the first quarter, Dallas got on the board early in the second quarter as Ryan Zapoticky ran into the end zone from eight yards out.
