PAGE2 THE POST CALENDAR Sunday, October 14, 2007 “rial By Jury’ will come alive Not since Tunkhannock’s Piatt Opera House burned down in 1929 has an opera’s performance generated so much excitement in this town. La Voce of Scranton, direct- ed by Dolores Dominick-Noll, will present the courtroom opera “Trial By Jury” by Gil- bert and Sullivan at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28, in the histor- ic Wyoming County Cour- thouse courtroom. La Voce’s performance will be complete with professional singers, instrumentalists, costumes, lighting and sound. The courtroom is the perfect setting for the comic opera “Trial By Jury,” a story of a bridegroom who tires of his sweetheart and falls in love with another. His would- be bride takes him to court for “breach of promise.” Al- though the court should not show “bias of any kind,” it is clear from the outset that the bride is the favored party! A pre-show entitled “The Deposition” will include songs from other operas and Broadway shows, as well as a guitar and flute medley. At the intermission, attendees will have an opportunity to view the exhibit gallery and enjoy refreshments. This performance is La Voce’s gift to the Dietrich Theater Expansion Project. Additional sponsors of the and the war event are Mattress Man, Northeastern Eye Institute ters to the Dietrich Theater La Voce of Scran- ton, directed by Dolores Domin- ick=Noll, will present the cour- troom opera “Trial By Jury” by Gilbert and Sullivan at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28, in the histor- ic Wyoming County Cour- thouse cour- troom.
