Bobby Peron earned the win on the mound, pitching all seven in- nings, strike out one batter and walking six. Cory Fassett earned the loss for Tunkhannock, pitching four in- nings and striking out one batter before being relieved by Tyler Aus- tin,. SPORTS BRIEFS Lake-Lehman schedules fall sports physicals Lake-Lehman Junior-Senior High School will conduct fall sports physicals in the nurse’s office at the junior-senior high building on the following dates: Monday, July 23, at 5 p.m. - Junior high girls only Wednesday, July 25, at 9 a.m. - All senior high boys fall sports Wednesday, Aug. 1, at 9 a.m. - Junior high boys in fall sports (This will be the final day of exams for all boys and girls in both junior and senior high school. There will not be a make- up day this year.) Students are requested to arrive promptly at the time stated on the day of the physicals. ) There is a new physical form this year, which can be picked up in the high school office between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday to Friday. All forms must be completed and signed by the parent/guardian of the student prior to the exam. Gridiron Club plans golf tournament The Dallas Gridiron Club is hosting its 10th Annual Golf Tour- nament, on Sunday, July 29, at the Wilkes-Barre Golf Club. Cost is $75 per golfer which includes green fees, carts, refresh- ments, dinner and prizes This will not be just your typical Captain and Crew Tournament. Although you will be able to com- pete in Captain and Crew format, there will be a separate division for those who would prefer to play individual and compete for indi- vidual and 4-Man Better Ball prizes. Horlacher girls grab DI6 title The Bob Horlacher Girls Soft- ball All-Star team trounced West Pittston, 81, Tuesday night to win the Little League District 16 championship and move onto sectionals against District 17. Pitcher Ashley Inman led the way for the Horlacher team as it continued its unbeaten streak. In- man had a total of 13 strikeouts and allowed only one hit in the win. The big hitters of the evening also belonged to Horlacher. Ga- brielle Alguire and Colleen McDonald both hit doubles and McDonald also had an RBL Horlacher moved on to play the District 17 North Division winner in the Section 5 tourna- ment on Friday. Wyoming/West Wyoming/Exeter 10 Bob Horlacher 6 Katlyn Kross, Grace Kinney and Teresa Toomey were the top hitters in Wyoming's victory. Liz Kravitz picked up the win. LITTLE LEAGUE Forty Fort 10 Back Mountain American 6 Four members of the Forty Fort Little League All-Stars cracked home rums Tuesday night to lead the West Siders to a 10-6 victory over Back Mountain American in District 16 action. The winners got nine runs from those four homers. Forty Fort’s game started in the bottom of the second when third baseman James Murray led off the scoring with a two-run homer. American responded with two runs of its own in the ‘top of the third, pushing them across by stealing three bases and taking one plate on a passed ball. It was in the bottom half of the inning that Forty Fort’s bats came to life, piling up seven runs. Back- to-back singles brought up center fielder Austin Solairahn, who launched a three-run shot into the parking lot. The power surge continued as Forty Fort again put two runners on. This time it was Tommy Alex- ander’s turn to impress the crowd as he launched a ball across the road behind right field for anoth- er three-run blast. First baseman Joe Pechulis made it back-to-back home runs as he crushed a pitch to dead cen- ter that traveled an estimated 300-plus feet, as it landed deep in the parking lot.
