| Sunday, July 1, 2007 THE POST PAGE7 COMMUNITY Building honors Chief Westfield A new educational facility built next to The Camp Lejeune Naval Hospital on the Naval-Fleet Com- pound Grounds at Camp Le- jeune, NC, was dedicated to Chief John M. Westfield Hospital Corpsman in honor and memory of his life and service by the Navy and Marines. Chief Petty Officer Hospital Corpsman John-Mark Westfield, 38, stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC., was killed in an auto acci- dent on February 19, 2007. He was the son of The Rev. Henry E. Sr. and Alice Westfield, of Dallas. A 1986 graduate of Dal- las Area High School, he attend- ed Recruit Training in Orlando, Florida and Hospital Corpsman School in Great Lakes, Ill. He ¢ arned his Associate Computer Science Degree from The New England Institute of Technology and was near completion of his full Degree in Computer Science. Westfield achieved the rank of Hospital Corpsman Chief Petty Office and was the Directorate Leading Chief of Nursing Servic- es at the Camp Lejeune Naval Hospital, Camp Lejeune. He was a member of the Chief Petty Officers Association and co- ordinator of The Naval Hospital, Camp Lejeune Honors Detail. Chief Petty Officer Westfield was a highly-decorated 20-year Naval veteran who served in Iraq and many Naval and Marine installa- tions. A plaque with a picture of Chief Westfield and a painting of a Ma- rine and a Medivac helicopter were presented to Mrs. John- Mark Westfield and the couple’s daughter, Bianca, by Captain @ C. Olesen, Commanding CHURCH BRIEFS Men's breakfast held each Tuesday The Shavertown United Methodist Church recently began holding a weekly ecumen- ical men’s breakfast. The group meets at 8 a.m. each Tuesday at Pickett’s Charge restaurant on Route 415 ‘n Dallas. ’ The Dutch treat breakfast is followed by fellowship and a short devotion period. The breakfast, fellowship and devo- tion period last no longer than one hour. Men from all Back Mountain churches are encouraged to attend. For more information, call Bob Deeble at 696-2148. River of Life begins nightly meetings Pastors Stephen and Mary Ann Kotch of River Of Life at Kingdom Power Ministries in Shavertown will hold special meetings at 7:30 p.m. each Tuesday through Sunday at the church, located at 219 North Memorial Highway. The Sunday meetings will be held at 6 p.m. The meetings will vary each & 'vening to include teaching on spiritual gifts, prophecy, heal- ing, dreams and visions inter- pretation, spiritual counsel and worship. The public is invited. Awana Club meets at Grace Community The Awana Club of Grace Community Church meets from 6-7:45 p.m. each Wednesday at the church, located across from Chapel Lawn Cemetery on Memorial Highway. The club holds its meetings through April. The Bible-based club is open to boys and girls in kindergarten through sixth grade.
