Kapral had four hits, in- cluding his first home run a to lead the offense. Logan Bullock also cracked a home run, Jack Matusiak added a triple and James Delpriore had a hit in the win. The Giants were led by Ryan Zapoticky's three hits, including two doubles, Christian Skrepenek with three hits, and Brian McDonnell added two hits in the loss. Dodgers 6, Orioles 5 Scavone, had a double, a triple and home run to lead the Dodgers to a 6-5 victo- ry over the Orioles. Astros 1, Red Sox O The Astros wrapped up the American League regular season champion- ship with a 1-O defeat of the Red Sox. Brian Stepniak 1 and Alex Barilla shut down the Sox, striking out 16 in the win. Jay Dawsey sin- gled and was knocked in on a hit by Kris Konicki for the only run of the game. Neil Shaver was the hard luck loser, striking out eight in the loss. Shaver also added a double and Chris Hood singled for the Sox! it Rangers 9, A's 2 Greg Petorak fired a two hitter and added two hits as the Rangers shut down the A's, 9-2. Shane Dunn " and Bill Gately added a 7 double and a single each for the winners. Craig Skudulski and Mike Carey had the two hits for the A's. Red Sox 10, Orioles O John Strausser smashed a grand slam as the Red Sox crushed the O's, 10-0. JJ McGovern picked up the win and Neil Shaver and Blake Bertl each added two hits. Drew Harding, Josh Shilanski, and Chris Hood all had hits for the Sox. Jim Roc- cograndi had a double, triple, and a home run and brother Kris added two hits with a double for the win- ners. Domenic Oliveri and Mike Gallis also added two hits in the win. Alex Zubko starred in the loss, adding two hits and scoring two runs. BACK MOUNTAIN RESIDENTS IN SOCCER STATE CUP FINAL Becca Stull, left, a freshman at Lake-Lehman, and Demetra Szatkow- ski, an eighth grade student at Dallas, recently participated in the Eastern PA Youth Soccer state championship match held in Westchester, PA. They play for Vincent United Blizzards, a U4 premier soccer team based in Pottstown Pa. Stull, daughter of Rhyle and Gary Stull, Lehman, is the team’s starting goal keeper and Szatkowski, daughter of Karen and Richard Szat- kowski, Shavertown, plays starting left defender. The Vincent United team advanced through three rounds of the National Championship Series, but lost to FC Delco 3-1 in the finals. The girls also were key players in the team's run for the EPYSA indoor state cup held in January. Vincent United made it to the finals there as well, only to lose to HMM S in t he championship game.
