Men's breakfast held each Tuesday The Shavertown United Methodist Church recently began holding a weekly ecumen- ical men’s breakfast. The group meets at 8 a.m. each Tuesday at Pickett’s Charge restaurant on Route 415 in Dallas. The Dutch treat breakfast is followed by fellowship and a short devotion period. River of Life begins meetings Pastors Stephen and Mary Ann Kotch of River Of Life at Kingdom Power Ministries in Shavertown will hold special meetings at 7:30 p.m. each Tuesday through Sunday at the church, located at 219 North Memorial Highway. The Sunday meetings will be held at 6 p.m. The meetings will vary each evening to include teaching on spiritual gifts, prophecy, heal- ing, dreams and visions inter- pretation, spiritual counsel and worship. Awana Club meets at Grace Community The Awana Club of Grace Community Church meets from 6 to 7:45 p.m. each Wednesday at the church, located across from Chapel Lawn Cemetery on Memorial Highway. The club holds its meetings through April. The Bible-based club is open to boys and girls in kindergarten through sixth grade. Winter, of Benton, died June 3, 2007 at his home. A native of Shavertown, he was employed by American As- phalt Co., Chase, for 19 years, retiring in 1987. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, the former Agnes L Foust; daughters, Carol Ann and Wanda Lee, both at home; sons, Lynn C., Benton; and Christopher, Stillwater; four grandchildren; sisters, Clara Jean Baker, Carlisle; Esther Al- lis, Meeker; and Jean Herbert, Wilkes-Barre; a brother, Rob- ert, New Jersey. JOHN GARRINGER Was self-employed truck driver John W. Garringer, 70, of East Center Street, Shaver- town, died June 2, 2007 at his home. He was employed as a truck driver for IDC and as a self-em- ployed driver, covering coast to coast. He was a member of the Apostolic Church, West Pittston and Teamsters Union Local 401 of Wilkes-Barre. Crumley, 92, of Shavertown, died on Saturday, June 2, 2007 at his home. A native of Wilkes-Barre, he was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army Air Corps. He was employed as a union blaster and explosive expert, working mostly in New Jersey for more than 40 years. Surviving are daughters, Joyce Crumley, Shavertown; Diane Brown, Harvey’s Lake; Charlotte Ferry, Wilkes-Barre; Beth Crumley, Spotsylvania, Va.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. MICHAEL LUNDY Served in the U.S. Army Michael A. Lundy Sr., 66, of Dallas, died May 30, 2007 in the Hospice Care of the Visit- ing Nurses Association, Inpa- tient Unit, Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre. He was a graduate of Cass Township High School Class of 1959 and earned a degree from Stevens Trade School. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 19065 to 1965. He worked at the Sunday Inde- pendent in Wilkes-Barre for over 30 years as a composing room foreman, retiring in 2004. A native of Kingston, she re- sided in Kingston until 1958 when she and her family moved to Dallas. Years ago, she was a member of the Durbin Class at the Dal- las Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Dallas Women’s Club and a faithful member of the Tuesday Lunch Group. She attended the Fellowship Evangelical Free Church in Dallas and was always the first one there most Sunday morn- ings.
