Recycling program set to start May Zl o Dallas Borough Council has announced plans for the 2007 Curbside Yard Waste Recycling Program. Weekly collection of a limited amount of grass clippings and other yard waste not to exceed one or two 25 gallon green con- tainers will begin the week of May 21. Residents are requested to leave their green recycling bins or other yard waste at curbside on Monday of each week during collection season. In an effort to provide this mu- nicipal service to residents, an unfortunate result has been the unsightly appearance of yard waste being placed curbside on a continual basis throughout the week. This must immediately be curtailed as it defeats the intend- ed purpose of the program to beautify our community. Green containers are to be placed curb- side for Monday pickup only. The Dallas Borough adminis- tration asks that residents place yard waste curbside in the same manner that municipal refuse is placed curbside on the day before collection (not to exceed a 24- hour period). Should residents fail to comply with this request, Borough Council will be forced to consider either entirely elimi- nating the curbside collection program, significantly reducing service levels or the implementa- tion of an ordinance providing for enforcement of penalties for vio- lating the regulations for appro- priate placement of yard waste at curbside. Dallas Borough is proud of the services offered to its residents and is the only municipality in our region with weekly curbside yard waste collection. It is neces- sary for residents to adhere to regulations pertaining to the placement of yard waste curb- side. Please contact the borough ad- ministrative office at 675-1389 Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with any questions per- taining to this announcement.
