The students received awards during the Luzerne County Commissioners meeting held in West Pittston on Wednesday, April 18. Commissioner [i 3) z hot en Gregory A. Skrepenak presented both Ryan and Ariana with a trophy on be- half of the Luzerne County Library Sys- tem. They also received prizes from the commissioners. Frania, 11, is a resident of Shavertown and attends the Gate of Heaven School. He submitted a lettered design of “READ.” Notartomaso, 8, attends the Wyom- g Valley Montessori School and is a ident of Kingston. She submitted a colorful sun peaking over the valley. The competition was held to select two designs for children’s library cards to be used by all the libraries in the Lu- zerne County Library System of which the Back Mountain Memorial Library is a member. Pre-school, public, private and home schooled children were all invited to en- ter a design.
