Featured will be vocal and bell choirs from SUMC and guests, along with congregational sing- ing of favorite hymns with organ, bells, trumpet and choirs. Special guest artist will be Rob- ert “Bobby” Baird, long-time area trumpet player who has delight- ed audiences for years. A three- time state champ trumpeter, Baird played in the United States Navy Band and has performed with Bobby Baird’s Dixieland Jazz Band for over 50 years. He received the Pennsylvania Jazz Society’s Musician Jazzer Award for the year 2000. A free will offering will be tak- en and a reception will follow the concert. : ‘The church is located at 163 N. PRINCE OF PEACE PARISHIONERS ASSIST VISION PROGRAM CHURCH BRIEFS Dinner supports Cori’s Place Prince of Peace Episcopal Church, Main St. Dallas, will host a spaghetti dinner on Saturday, April 28 in the parish hall. The dinner, a fund-raising event, is to support Cori’s Place in Luzerne. Dinner is being served from 5 to 7:30 p.m. and take- outs will be available. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for chil- dren with children under 4 years of age admitted free. Tickets are available from parishioners or at the door. Plans made for Day of Prayer “America, Unite In Prayer” is this year’s theme for the National Day of Prayer event and the Center Moreland United Methodist is making plans for the Prayer event on Thursday, May 3. Special “Quiet Prayer Time” will be at 6 a.m. for those on their way to work who wish to stop by the church to pray. Men's breakfast held each Tuesday The Shavertown United Methodist Church recently began holding a weekly ec- umenical men’s breakfast. The group meets at 8 a.m. each Tuesday at Pickett’s Charge restaurant on Route 415 in Dallas. The Dutch treat breakfast is followed by fellowship and a short devotion period. The breakfast, fellowship and devotion period last no long- er than one hour.
