LAKE-LEHMAN PTO ELEMENTARY GIRLS Katie Yoniski scored seven points as Lehman-Jackson Black defeated Ross Elementary, 13-12, to win the overall district cham- pionship. Emily Sutton added four points for the winners. In a semifi- nal game, Yoniski scored a game- high 14 points as Lehman-Jackson Black defeated the Quality Colli- sion Hustlers, 24-8. The Hustlers were champions of the Lake-Nox- en division. Lehman-Jackson Black out- scored their opponents 99-47 in four playoff games en route to fin- ishing the season with a perfect 14-0 record. DALLAS YOUTH BASKETBALL Tanner Gattuso scored 10 points, including three in overtime as Bishop Photo captured the Dal- las Youth Basketball third and fourth grade boys playoff cham- pionship with a thrilling 29-26 win against regular season champion C&C Sheetmetal. The win was the second consecutive playoff win in overtime for Bishop Photo, which needed three overtimes to defeat The Fieldhouse Sporting Goods in a semifinal game. Ryan Martin added 10 points for the winners, while Mitch Kelly and Frank Bevevino chipped in three and two points, respectively. Cody Long and Jimmy Barlow scored three points each for C&C, while Christian Wargo added two points. ® C&C Sheetmetal reached the finals with a 26-17 win against Quad Three Group in a semifinal contest. Spencer Bowanko and Aleksey Gitelson led C&C with eight points each, while Eric Pin- cofski finished with seven. Instruction for offense and defense will be held from noon to 3 p.m., while in- direction of Dallas head coach Joyce Tinner, a former standout at Dallas and Penn State Uni- versity. The cost is $20 for the offense/defense clinic, $10 for the pitchers/catchers clinic, or $25 for both. Participants should bring their own gloves and wear com- fortable clothing. Basketball shootout being held March I8 The Kingston Township Rec- reation Commission will hold its 12th annual Back Mountain Basketball Shootout Competi- tion at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, March 18 at the Dallas Middle School gym. The free throw and three-point shooting competi- tion is open to boys and girls between the ages of 7-14. Each event will have multiple . age flights with shooting dis- tances modified accordingly. Prizes will be presented to the top finishers in each flight and overall champions. There will also be a parent-child team shooting competition giving parents and their children an opportunity to compete with each other. Registration and warm-ups l fe will begin at noon. Young athletes win free throw titles Three local youngsters won free throw championships on the local and district level be- fore competing at the regional level in competitions sponsored by The Knights of Columbus. John Murray, a 12-year-old from Dallas; Cody Cutter, a 13-year-old from Harveys Lake; and Michael Boland, a 10-year- old from Dallas won champion- ships in their respective age groups at the local level at Gate Of Heaven School and the dis- trict level at West Side Vo-Tech School. The three competed on the regional level in Cresco, with Murray taking second place, Boland capturing third place, and Cutter finishing fourth.
