William was born on July 22, 1933, in Nanticoke, a son of the late Calvin E. and Elizabeth Evans Eckrote. He was preced- ed in death by granddaughter Alex Harvey; and brother Paul Eckrote. Surviving are daughters Cla- ra Harvey, Sugar Notch; and Wendy Leiby, Shickshinny; son Walter Cook, Plymouth; broth- er Calvin Eckrote, Dallas; and three grandchildren. Interment, Slocum Cemete- ry, Slocum Township. DONALD M. COOL SR. Resident of Trucksville Donald M. Cool Sr., 64, of Trucksville, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006 in Swoyersville at the home of his wife Rachel Cool, where he was being taken care of by Mary Airhart and Hospice of Pittston. He was born in Kingston on March 5, 1942. He was the son of the late Willard and Elizabeth (Kivler) Cool. Surviving in addition to his wife, Rachel, are sons Donald Jr. and Scott Cool; two grandsons, Donald Cool III and Scott Vankeuren,; sis- ter Carol Bartholomew; brother Willard Cool; sever- al nieces and nephews. RUSSELL L. - OCKENHOUSE Married for 51 years Russell L. Ockenhouse, 80, of Dallas, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007 at Wilkes-Barre Gen- eral Hospital. Born in Wilkes- Barre, he was the son of the late William and Louisa (Calkins) Ockenhouse. He was preceded in death by brother Allan and sister Doris Galka. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, the former Bea- trice Hildebrant; daughter Ha- zel; brothers William M., Robert J.; sisters Fannie Williams and Eleanor Kilcrease. STASH Graduate of Lake-Lehman High School Joseph Kevin Stash, 33, passed away suddenly on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006 at his Dallas home at the side of his beloved wife, Jennifer. Born on July 28, 1973, in King- ston, he was a son of Lawrence and Dorothy Stash of Jackson Township. He was a graduate of Lake-Lehman High School and was the proud founder and oper- ator of All Excavating Services. He was a member of St. Antho- ny of Padua Church, Larksville, until its closing and more recent- ly a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Lake Silkworth. He was also a member of the Scranton Chamber of Commerce. Joey was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing, along with creating fireworks dis- plays to entertain his family and friends. He also shared his time with his dog, Toby, and the chil- dren in his life. His generous and good-natured behavior, along with his excavation skills, gained him friends far and wide. He add- ed life, spirit and fun to every day, and will be forever cherished and missed. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Joseph and Agnes Stash. ADA SHEFLER Member of Noxen Bible Baptist Church Ada Shefler, 66, of Noxen, passed away Monday, Jan. 1, 2007 in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born April 17, 1940 in Nox- en, she was the daughter of the late Sylvester (Jack) and Nina Blizzard Traver. She attended the Beaumont schools. Mrs. Shefler was employed by En- con for many years prior to her retirement. She was a member of the Noxen Bible Baptist Church. 5 Surviving are Ber husband of 48 years, George; daughters Nancy Zawatski and her hus- band, Greg, Sugar Notch; Mar- tha Davenport and her hus- band, Ray, Noxen; sons George Jr., Noxen; John Sr. and Joann Eddy, Noxen; four wonderful grandsons, Joshua and John Jr. Shefler, Tunkhannock; Jeffrey Shefler, Tunkhannock; Jacob Davenport, Noxen; one great- grandchild, Jasmine Shefler. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Also surviving are sisters Leona Cook, Tunk- hannock; Nettie Ladner, Nox- en; Gypsy Hanadel, Noxen; Jane Scott, Noxen; brothers Hi- ram Traver, Noxen; Harry Trav- er, Noxen; Sylvester (Jack) Traver, Noxen; Steve Traver, Dallas; numerous nieces and nephews. REBECCA “REBA” SMITH Former teacher’s aide at Lake-Lehman Rebecca “Reba” Smith, 77, of Dallas, formerly of Loyal- ville, passed away Monday, Jan. 1, 2007 at home. Mrs. Smith was born in Swoyersville, May 14, 1929 and was the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Hos podar) Mihalishan. She gradu- ated from Laketon High School in 1948. Prior to retirement, she was employed as a teacher’s aide for the Lake-Lehman School District. Reba was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Ed- wardsville. She is survived by sons Da- niel Smith and his wife, Kathy, Keelersburg; Randy Smith and his wife, Trish, Sweet Val- ley; sister Mary Scouteny Mountain Top; grandchildren Rod, Todd, Sarah and Hannah; and great-grandchildren Tom- my, Andy and Garrett.
