PAGE 10 THE POST OBITUARIES Sunday, December 10, 2006 ARRETA PHILLIPS 105 years old; taught in one-room schoolhouse Arreta Phillips, 105, of Tunk- hannock, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006 at Tyler Memorial Hospital, Tunkhannock. She was born in South Au- burn, Susquehanna County, on Dec. 19, 1900. She was a daugh- ter of the late Charles L. and Ida Estella Baldwin Depew. Her husband, Bruce C. Phil- lips, passed away on Jan. 31, 1971. Arreta was a school teacher in Sullivan County during the time of the one-room schools and was a seamstress and did alteration at home in Tunkhan- nock for many years. She was a member of the Tunkhannock Baptist Church, Wyoming County Historical Society, Wyoming County Christian Temperance Society, Wyoming County Senior Citizens and worked on the Tunkhannock Borough Election Board for many years. She was a gradu- ate of Meshoppen High School, Class of 1919. She was preceded in death by a son, Howard Walter Phil- lips; grandson Howard B. Phil- lips; brother Charles Raymond Depew; and sister Mildred . Robbins. Arreta is survived by two daughters, Gladys May Sands, Winter Haven, Fla.; Janet Ko- nopelski Howell, Dallas; daughter-in-law Arline Phil- lips, Tunkhannock; 10 grand- children, Richard Passmore, Sevierville, Tenn.; Steve Man- ning, Winter Haven, Fla; Cathy White, Augusta, Ga; Beth Bradley, Winter Haven, Fla.; JoAnn Willis, Lakeland, Fla.; John B. Sweitzer, 89, West Eighth Street in Kingston Township, passed away Friday, Dec. 1, 2006 at the home of her daughter, Carol Bullock of Bo- dle Road, Franklin Township. Born in West Wyoming, she was the daughter of the late Su- san Shirley. Doris attended West Wyom- ing High School, Class of 1936, and recently attended its 69th class reunion. She was employ- ed by Nelson Furniture for 20 years, operated a produce stand for 35 years on West Eighth Street and also worked in various garment factories. Doris and her late husband farmed their own land for many years. She was also a member of the Daughters of America for 35 years and served as a State Officer at the Carl M. Dymond Sr., 72, of Shavertown, passed away Sun- day, Dec. 3, 2006 at Geisinger Medical Center, Plains Town- ship, following a long battle with cancer. Born in Dallas on May 21, 1934, he was a son of the late Elmer and Eltha (Evans) Dy- mond. He was a graduate of Dallas High School, Class of 1952. Mr. Dymond had been employed by Air Products for 40 years. He was an avid golfer with two career holes in one. One hole in one took place during a round in which he scored a 70, his age on that day. He was a member of the Ge- orge M. Dallas Lodge, Dallas; the Irem Temple; and Irem Temple Golf Association. state conference, a member of Mountain Grange No. 567, and the Friendly Circle, Wyoming. Doris was preceded in death by husband, Roland Sweitzer.
