A short service, followed by the bless- ing, will be held on the church’s front lawn, weather permitting. All animals, properly re- strained, are welcome. St. Therese's Church holding Birthday Tea The Altar & Rosary Society of St. Therese’s Church will hold its 48th annual Birthday Tea at 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8 in Father Sammons Hall at the church, Pioneer Avenue in Shavertown. There will be special entertain- ment, door prizes, and a 50/50 raffle. Tickets will also be avail- able for a handmade quilt, which will be raffled off at the annual Christmas dinner on Dec. 3. Millie Yanchik, Ruth Youngblood, Jean Carey, Peg Fischer, Mona Dymond and Patti Gallagher were the quil- ters. Rummage sale at St. Paul's Lutheran The Dorcas Society of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church will hold a rummage and bake sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7 at the church on Route 118 in Dallas Township. Donations of clean, useable items such as clothes, holiday decorations, small appliances, tools, games, books and dishes may be dropped off at the church. The hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Thurs- day and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday. Computer equipment and ency- clopedias cannot be accepted. Kunkle Methodist sets spaghetti dinner The Kunkle United Methodist Church will hold a spaghetti dinner from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7 at the Kunkle Communi- ty Center. Tickets are $6.50 for adults and children age 10 and older. Takeouts will be available. Proceeds from the dinner will be used to build a kitchen addi- tion to the church. Lehman-idetown UMC holding rummage sale The Lehman-Idetown United Methodist Church will hold a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13 and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 14 at the church in Lehman Township. In addition to the items for sale, there will be a bake sale and snack bar. Saturday is Bag Day. Co-chairwomen for the event are Ruth Jones, Jennifer Roma- nowski, Amanda Newman and Althea Clark. Loyalville UMC plans ham dinner The Loyalville United Metho- dist Church will hold a roast pork and sauerkraut dinner from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14 at the church on Loyalville Road. The church is located one-half mile off Route 29 south and 4 miles west of Dallas from Route 118. There will also be a bake sale. Takeouts will be available and orders should be called in ad- vance. Center Moreland UMC to host special events The Center Moreland United Methodist Church will hold a Jacobs Brothers concert at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13 at the church on Creamery Road. The Jacobs Brothers, veterans in gospel music, is comprised of brothers Bob and Mike Jacobs, along with Mike Lawver who joined the group in 1972. There is no admission charge and the public is invited. A love offering will be taken. The church is also holding its Christmas Child Shoe Box mis- sion project. The project is an international relief project of Samaritan’s Purse. Last year, more than seven million gifted- filled shoe boxes were distrib- uted worldwide to children in 95 countries. October is “Get Your Shoebox Together” month at the church. Other churches in the area will also be taking part in the pro- ject. The boxes are due by Sunday, Nov. 5 and will be dedicated that day. Men's breakfast held each Tuesday The Shavertown United Methodist Church recently began holding a weekly ecumen- ical men’s breakfast. The group meets at 8 a.m. each Tuesday at Pickett’s Charge restaurant on Route 415 in Dallas. The Dutch treat breakfast is followed by fellowship and a short devotion period. The breakfast, fellow- ship and devotion period last no longer than one hour. Men from all Back Mountain churches are encouraged to attend. Awana Club meets at Grace Community The Awana Club of Grace Community Church will meet from 6-7:45 p.m. each Wednes- day beginning Oct. 4 at the church, located across from Chapel Lawn Cemetery on Memorial Highway. The club meets through April. The Bible-based club is open to boys and girls in kindergarten through sixth grade. Awana is one of the largest nondenom- inational children and youth ministries in the world. Awana clubs are active in more than 110 countries, reaching more than one million young people each week. Me- morial Highway in Shavertown in September. The building is located between Dreier’s Auto Sales and Dymond’s Farm Mar- ket. River Of Life at Kingdom Power Ministries will also ex- pand its schedule. Beginning in late October, gatherings will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. six nights a week, Tuesday through Sunday. Healing, intercessory prayer, training in the interpretation of dreams and visions, soaking prayer, and instruction on being able to see and understand spiritual things, will continue.
