A short service, followed by the blessing, will be held on the church's front lawn, weather permitting. All animals, properly restrained, are welcome. Center Moreland UMC plans special events The Center Moreland United Methodist Church will hold a Jacobs Brothers concert at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13 at the church on Creamery Road. The Jacobs Brothers, veterans in gospel music, is comprised of brothers Bob and Mike Jacobs, along with Mike Lawver who joined the group in 1972. There is no admis- sion charge and the public is invited. A love offering will be taken. The church is also holding its Christmas Child Shoe Box mis- sion project. The project is an international relief project of Samaritan's Purse. Last year, more than seven million gifted- filled shoe boxes were distrib- uted worldwide to children in 95 countries. October is “Get Your Shoebox Together” month at the church. Other churches in the area will also be taking part in the project. The boxes are due by Sunday, Nov. 5 and will be dedicated that day. Special service honors emergency workers St. Paul's Lutheran Church will hold a special service to honor and recognize members of the community who serve as emer- gency responders at 2 p.m. Sun- day, Sept. 24 at the church on Route 118 in Dallas Township. All members of the local emer- gency services agencies - fire- fighters, ambulance associations and EMTs, police, rescue, and civil air patrol - are invited to the service. The public is invited. A time of fellowship will follow in the church's social hall. River of Life moves location River Of Life at Kingdom Power Ministries is moving to its new location at 219 N. Memorial High- way in Shavertown in September. The building is located between Dreier’'s Auto Sales and Dy- mond's Farm Market. River Of Life at Kingdom Power Ministries will also expand its schedule. Beginning in late October, gath- erings will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. six nights a week, Tuesday through Sunday. Healing, intercessory prayer, training in the interpretation of dreams and visions, soaking prayer, and instruction on being able to see and understand spiri- tual things, will continue. Sunday celebration will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. The public is invited. Men's breakfast held each Tuesday The Shavertown United Metho- dist Church recently began hold- ing a weekly ecumenical men's breakfast. The group meets at 8 a.m. each Tuesday at Pickett's Charge restaurant on Route 415 in Dallas. The Dutch treat break- fast is followed by fellowship and a short devotion period. The breakfast, fellowship and devo- tion period last no longer than one hour. Men from all Back Mountain churches are encouraged to attend. Awana Club meets at Grace Community The Awana Club ministry at the Grace Community Church in Dallas meets from 6-7:45 p.m. every Wednesday at the church, which is located across from Chapel Lawn Cemetery on Me- morial Highway. The Bible-based club is open to boys and girls ages 4 through sixth grade. The club consists of Bible teaching, fun, fellowship, games and special events. They are all 50-year members of the church. he Lehman-Idetown United Methodist Church concluded its yearlong celebration “Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” with a very special weekend. The Lehman church celebrated its 150th anniversary, while the Idetown church noted its 141st anniversary. Finan- cial matters forced the Lehman and Idetown United Methodist churches to merge two years ago. The weekly worship services are held at Lehman United Methodist Church. A music festival featuring the group “Saving Graces” kicked off the celebration Friday, Sept. 15. The celebration moved to the Knight's of Columbus hall in Luzerne the following night for the Anniver- sary Banquet. The church honored its 50-plus year members, along with past pastors Greg Myers, Tom Morris, Richard Santarella and Robert Harris.
