All members of the local emergency services agencies — firefighters, ambulance associ- ations and EMTs, police, rescue, and civil air patrol — are invited to the service. The public is invited. A time of fellowship will follow in the church’s social hall. Parish picnic being held Sept. 10 The Prince of Peace Episcopal Church will hold its annual parish picnic Sunday, Sept. 10 at Frances Slocum State Park in Kingston Township. A Euchar- istic Service will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by a pot luck picnic. Parishioners are asked to bring a comfortable lawn chair. If the weather permits, there will be games for the children and adults. Fishing poles and hiking boots are an option. St. Paul's holding roast beef supper St. Paul's Lutheran Church will hold a family-style roast beef supper from 4-6:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23 at the church on Route 118 in Dallas Town- ship. The church is wheelchair accessible. Shavertown UMC holding special service The Shavertown United Methodist Church will hold its monthly prayer and praise ser- vice at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11 at the church. The service is open to anyone who enjoys contemporary music and a cele- bration of faith. The music is led by the SUMC praise band “Step By Step.” The service is held monthly and continues through May. Have you dreamed about performing live on stage? Here's your opportuni- ty. The Dallas Harvest Festival will be holding auditions for its inaugural Harvest Fest Idol Con- test on Wednesday, Sept. 13 in Walsh Auditorium on the College Misericordia campus. The audi- torium is located in McAuley Hall. The contest is open to the first 75 individual vocalists between the ages of 16-25. The doors will open at 5 p.m. Auditions will begin promptly at 5:30 p.m. and will continue until 10 p.m. If time permits, additional au- ditions will be accepted from the audience. Upon entering the auditorium, each contestant must provide their name, age, address and tele- phone number. Each contestant will receive a performance number and will be required to perform a 3-minute vocal number. The contestants must provide their own accompaniment, whether piano or CD. Technical assistance will be available on- site. Judges for the auditions will in- clude Francesca Bavuso, assist- ant professor of visual studies at College Misericordia; and Aileen Ginochetti, of the Peabody Con- servatory, Johns Hopkins Univer- sity. A yet-to-be determined third judge will also participate. Three finalists will be contact- ed by telephone the following day and the finalist will be posted on the Back Mountain Business As- sociation’s @ Web site at www.bmbaonline.com (click on “Dallas Harvest Festival” and “Harvest Fest Idol Contest”). The finalists will have the op- portunity to perform on two sep- arate occasions: during the Dal- las Days Dance, which takes place from 7 p.m. to midnight Fri- day, Sept. 15 at the Irem Temple Country Club’s pavilions; and during the fourth annual Dallas Harvest Festival at 3 p.m. Sun- day, Sept. 17 on Main Street. After both performances, the public will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite. A winner will be announced at 6 p.m. during the festival. Cash prizes will be awarded. River of Life moving in September River Of Life at Kingdom Power Ministries is moving to its new location at 219 N. Me- morial Highway in Shavertown in September. The building is located be- tween Dreier’s Auto Sales and Dymond’s Farm Market. River Of Life at Kingdom Power Min- istries will also expand its schedule. Beginning in late October, gatherings will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. six nights a week, Tuesday through Sunday. Healing, intercessory prayer, training in the interpretation of dreams and visions, soaking prayer, and instruction on being able to see and understand spiritual things, will continue. Men's breakfast held each Tuesday The Shavertown United Methodist Church recently began holding a weekly ecumen- ical men’s breakfast. The group meets at 8 a.m. each Tuesday at Pickett’s Charge restaurant on Route 415 in Dallas. The Dutch treat breakfast is followed by fellowship and a short devotion period. The breakfast, fellowship and devotion period last no longer than one hour. Men from all Back Mountain COMPANIONSHIP churches are encouraged to attend. Awana Club meets at Grace Community The Awana Club ministry at the Grace Community Church in Dallas meets from 6-7:45 p.m. every Wednesday at the church, which is located across from Chapel Lawn Cemetery on Memorial Highway.
