The Lehman UMC will be celebrat- ing its 150th anniversary, Idetown UMC is celebrating its 141st anniver- sary and this year marks the second anniversary of the Lehman-Idetown UMC merger. The theme for the cele- bration is “Yesterday, Today and To- morrow.” To celebrate the anniversary, repli- cas of both churches are being sold. The cost is $15 each or two for $25. The cost of this is $10 and the orna- ment may be purchased at church. A special music concert will be held Friday, Sept. 16 at the Lehman-Ide- town United Methodist Church on Mountain View Drive in Lehman Township. The time will be an- nounced at a later date. Reservations are being taken for the special anniversary banquet, which will be held Saturday, Sept. 16 at the Knights of Columbus in Luzerne. The cost of the family-style dinner is $16. There is no charge for children age 5 and under. Reservations, along with payment, must be made no later than Sept. 1. At the banquet, the church will hon- or members who have been with the church for 50 or more years. Past pas- tors will also be honored. A time cap- sule from 25 years ago will be opened and items from the present and recent past will be placed into a new capsule to be opened in 2031. Anyone with a special item of the church’s ministry and church life should bring the items to the church.
