PAGE 10 THE POST Thomas Richards of Harding fills out the forms to receive a flu vaccine at Cook's Pharmacy in Shavertown. FLU VACCINE Continued from Page 1 headaches, a cough and plenty of aches and pains — decides to make an appearance in the Back Moun- tain and Wyoming Valley. Cook’s Pharmacy held four clinics over the course of a two- week period for area residents. “People want to be protected and either their doctor doesn’t have (a vaccine) or ran out of it,” Lombardo said. “We were just try- ing to respond to the demand from the community.” A shot cost $25. Lombardo said the majority of the people at the clinics were elderly. “I tried to get it at my doctors, but they didn’t have it,” Thomas Richards, of Harding, said. “I hope it helps.” One couple, Dave and Mary Morrison, traveled from Clarks Summit just for the injections. “Last year we got it at the State Department of Health, but they don’t have any and our regular doctor never got any serum,” Dave Morrison said. “I went on- line on the Internet, but that was useless. I think we heard about this in the paper.” Mary Morrison said she didn’t feel a thing as the needle pierced her skin and the vaccine was re- leased. “Most people get the flu vac- cine in September or October,” Lombardo, a pharmacist for 17 years; said. “It’s a vital thing. Doc- tors will usually give them out un- til January.” According to one pair of Sha- vertown brothers Matt, 12, and Aaron Wolman, 15, they went to the clinic because their mother suggested it. “Mom’s a big believer in shots,” Aaron Wolman said. Another man, Harold Vander- maed, of Wanamie, said he tried BERR Tina Vojtko and Penny Higgins helped with a flu shot clinic at Cook's Pharmacy in Shavertown. CAROLS Continued from Page 1 who doesn’t have a church home to attend our church. But we didn’t spend great time on that.” The concert was under the di- rection of five-year church mem- bers Gene and Debbie Kelleher. Gene is chairman of the Fine Arts Series and Debbie is the church’s director of music. Music was pro- vided by the four adult and chil- dren’s choirs of the church — the chancel choir, God's Handful, Children of Light and God’s Tin- tinnabulators. STYLING “This was the first year for this specific concert,” said Gene Kel- leher. “I think people associate Christmas carols with the whole season. It’s a time of giving and being with family. And for Chris- tians, it’s about the birth of the Christ child.” Kelleher believes Carols by Candlelight will grow more pop- ular over the years. “It was great to see the church filled,” he said “We had a recep- tion afterward people didn’t want to leave. They were there for a long time. I think that next year, if people don’t get there early, they won't be able to find a seat.” “Give the Perfect Gift!” Gift Certificates & Spa Packages Available!
