At the end of the unit, 60 students submitted an original poem for entry into a national contest. Recently, 35 have been selected for publication in an anthology entitled “A Celebration of Young Poets.” The school is one of the 10 percent of the schools to receive Creative Communications Achievement Awards. CIVIC BRIEFS Alzheimer's group sets monthly meeting The Alzheimer’s Support Group will meet at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5 at the Mead- ows Nursing Center in Dallas. The facility is located at 55 W. No bag limit for trash collection The Dallas Area Municipal Authority will conduct its col- lection of trash and recyclables on the normal days during the holiday season. Dock ice insurance may be purchased For the third consecutive year, the Harveys Lake Protective Association is selling ice insur- ance policies for docks. SCHOOL BRIEFS Photos needed of Dallas seniors The Dallas High School Grad 2006 lock-in committee reminds all seniors to submit photos for the class video. Seniors should put their favorite childhood pictures, along with their senior picture, in an envelope or on a disk and place it in the senior picture drop off box at the school. Be sure to put your name on the envelope or disk. All pho- tos must be received no later than Friday, Dec. 23. College Misericordia hosting program College Misericordia will host an Adult Learner and Transfer Night from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9 in the Kennedy Room of the Banks Center for Student Life. The program is open to adult learners and transfer students interested in obtaining more information about the school’s undergraduate and graduate programs.
