Professor to speak at St. Therese's Church Jim Calderone, professor of social studies at College Miser- icordia, will present a lecture and discussion on “How Cathol- ic is Social Justice” at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24 at St Therese’s Church on Pioneer Avenue in Shavertown. Calderone is also a deacon of the Scranton Diocese, serving at St. Aloysius Church in Wilkes-Barre. The event is the first in a series made pos- sible through a grant from the Social Justice Fund of the Dio- cese of Scranton. There is no admission charge and refresh- ments will be served. Awana Club meets at Grace Community The Awana Club ministry at the Grace Community Church in Dallas meets from 6-7:45 p.m. every Wednesday at the church, which is located across from Chapel Lawn Cemetery on Memorial Highway. The Bible-based club is open to boys and girls ages 4 through sixth grade. The club consists of Bible teaching, fun, fellowship, games and special events. The Disciple 1 Bible study is an overview of the Bi- ble and will be led by Bonnie Ziegler, director of Christian education, from 6:3-0-8:30 Back Mountain students were among those in teacher Clark Switzer’'s eighth-grade social studies students at Wyoming Seminary Lower School to re-enact colonial life as part of the its annual fall celebration of Grandparents Day. Grandparents and other participants observed presentations on American Indians and enjoyed colonial food, dances and games. Switzer and a team of teachers organize Early American Day each year, inviting local craftsmen and re-enact- ors to share their expertise with the class.
