The Beta Sig- ma Chapter is comprised mostly of teachers from the Back Mountain area. The educators had a family-style lunch, wore red and green, and held a cookie exchange. The event offers students an opportunity to spend a fun and informative day touring the facilities, meeting CM stu- dents, faculty and coaches, and talking with admissions and financial aid counselors. The campus will be active with Homecoming weekend activ- ities including a parade at 9 a.m. and six home athletic contests. The open house schedule freshments; campus tours, including the new Alden Trust Computer Classroom; reno- vations in McHale Residence Hall; a faculty session; lunch; meetings with representatives of student services, athletics and student government; and a session on financial aid. Theremin virtuoso to appear In concert World-renowned musician and composer Rob Schwimmer will perform a concert at 8 p.m. Oct. 27 at College Misericor- dia’s Walsh Auditorium. This is no admission charge. Schwimmer has worked with many famous musicians in- Queen Latifah, Bette Midler, Burt Bacharach, Muddy Wa- ters, Stevie Wonder, Kurt Von- negut and Willie Nelson. He also has written music for Dora the Explorer on Nickelodeon, Sesame Street, the Academy Award-winning movie Dear Diary, and several television movie and shows. His accomplishments extend beyond composing. He also is a vocalist and arranger whose musical genres include jazz, classical, world music, avant- garde, pop-music, and rock. Schwimmer is one of the few Theremin virtuosos in the world. The Theremin was one of the first all-electric instruments. It is actually an instrument that is not meant to be physically touched. The box like instru- ment has two antennas that project from the instrument which the player waves his arms in front of to play.
