The 9-year-old won silver medals in the meter and 3-meter springboard competition to qualify for the State Games of America. That competition will be held in July 2007. The daughter of Dave and Sue Williams will be entering fourth grade this fall. Williams, right, is a member of The Northeast Diving Team and is coached by Kim Kuzma, right. TRIO COMBINES EFFORTS T0 WIN Three Back Mountain area youths re- cently combined to win a medal in the Scranton Kiwanis Youth Triathlon at Nay Aug Park. Stacey Stepniak of Dal- las completed 200 yards of swimming, Bryan Poepperling of Shavertown did the biking course and Brandon Harding of Dallas ran the 2-mile leg of the com- petition. During the event, Poepper- ling’s bicycle chain broke, forcing him to run almost half of the 5.2-mile bike route on foot. A luncheon followed where prizes were awarded to: Janet Dent, Ruth Federici, Joyce Lloyd and Jean Hillard, first place; Joann Campbell, Terry Cook, Graceann Colarusso and Alice Niskey, sec- ond place. Cassie Munzing and Helen Davis were chairwomen for the event. The next scheduled outing is set for Aug. 18 at the Emanon Golf Course. Back Mountain captures championship Back Mountain defeated Valley, 17-8, to captured first place in the South Wilkes-Barre Teeners play- offs. Valley won the regular season title with a 14-1 record while Back Mountain finished second. Back Mountain defeated Fort- Swoyer and Mountain Top to reach the championship game. In the championship game, the offense was led by Konrad Kras- zewski, who had four hits.
