PAGE6 THE POST EDUCATION Sunday, August 14, 2005 SCHOOL BRIEFS Lake-Lehman sets annual open house The Lake-Lehman Junior/ Senior High School will host an open house Aug. 23-25 for students in grades 7-12. Par- ents are also invited. The event will be held from 1-3 p.m. Aug. 23, 6-8 p.m. Aug. 24 and 9-11 a.m. Aug. 25. The annual event allows seventh, eighth, and ninth grade students to try lockers, locate rooms and become familiar with the layout of the school. New students in 10th through 12th grade are also welcome to attend. Informa- tion regarding the Open House has been mailed to students, who must bring the information to the open house. Gardner program available at PSU/W-B Penn State Cooperative Extension in Luzerne County is accepting applications for the Penn State Master Garden- er program. The program consists of a volunteer training course designed to provide those with an interest in horti- culture the information and skills necessary to share their knowledge and experience with others. The training will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each Saturday from Sept. 10 through Oct. 8 at the Penn State/Wilkes-Barre campus in Lehman Township. There is a fee of $60 per person or $90 per couple to cover the cost of the training manual, soil test kit, Penn State publications, and other materials. FASHION SHOW TO BENEFIT BREAST CANCER RESEARCH Dallas High School juniors Claire Mitchell and Stephanie Pace will hold a back-to- school fashion show from noon to 2 p.m. Aug. 21 at Stax & Co. on Route 415 in Dallas. Proceeds from the fashion show - part of their senior project - will benefit the American Cancer Society's breast cancer research. Tick- ets are $20, which includes brunch and refreshments.
