The four-day Vacation Bible School will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 15-19 at the church, which is located at 163 North Pioneer Avenue in Sha- vertown. The community-wide event is a group effort of the Shavertown, Dallas, and Hunstville United Methodist church- es, St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Prince of Peace Episcopal Church and Trinity Presbyterian Church. The school will fea- ture lively songs, funny skits, creative crafts, exciting games, interesting Bible stories, and tasty safari-themed snacks. Par- ents and grandparents are welcome to join in the fun, helping with crafts, serving snacks or becoming a group safari guide. Nursery care is available, without charge, for all parents work- ing on the VBS staff. The school will emphasize the mission of supporting “The Jungle That We Live In,” which includes members of the Back Mountain community and its animals. A collection will be taken each morning and the proceeds will be divided between the Luzerne County SPCA and Children and Youth Services of Luzerne County. A list of donation needs for each agency will also be distributed at the beginning of the school. Cross Creek sets Vacation Bible school The Cross Creek Community “1” Church is holding the Vacation Trucksville United Methodist “uf Bible School “Serengeti Trek: Where Kids are Wild About Gods Love” from 6:30-8:45 p.m. beginning July 25 and con- cluding July 29. The church is located on Carverton Road in Trucksville. The event, which is open to children ages 3 and older, will feature fun, Bible-learning ac- tivities, songs, crafts, food, games and Bible adventures. All boys and girls age 3 through completion of 6th grade are in- vited to attend the VBS. Each day of the event will conclude with the “Main Event.” Family members and friends are invited to come to the church at 8:30 p.m. to join in the fun.
