Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre, surrounded by his devoted daughter, Toni, and his nephew, John. Born in Edwardsville, the son of the late Michael and Justina Yasenchak, he was a graduate of Edwardsville High School, class of 1937. He resided in Niagara Falls, N.Y., and was employed by Union Carbide until he relocated to the Wyoming Valley in 1965. He was employed by ARA, Hanover Township, until his tirement. Upon retirement, traveled to Canada, ermuda and Florida with his wife and daughter. He was an avid Eagles fan. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific Theater. He was a member of the Roman Catholic Community of Plymouth. He was preceded in death by wife, the former Eleanor Walsh, March 24, 1998; brother Michael; sisters Yolanda Chewey, Anna Yasenchak, Julia Jordan and Martha Podolak. Born in Wilkes- Barre Township, September 17, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Grace (Kastreva) Sipple. _ She had attended Wilkes- Barre Township schools. Mrs. Brobst was a member of the ‘Welsh Baptist Church, Wilkes- Barre. For many years she served as a foster parent with Kids Peace in Wyoming County. _ Surviving are her husband, rry C. Main St. Wilkes-Barre PA 18711 FRANCIS KNIGHT Native of Meshoppen Mr. Francis (Frank) Knight, age 80, of Meshoppen passed away on Friday, March 18, 2005, at the Tyler Memorial Hospital in Tunkhannock. For the last two and a half years he has been a resident of Ann’s Grove Personal Care Home in Tunkhannock. He was born in Meshoppen on April 8, 1924, the son of the late John and Sophia Tompkins Knight. Frank was a graduate of the Meshoppen High School, Class of 1941. During the late 1940s, Frank served in the US. Army, serving state- side bétween World War If and the Korean War. Frank was employed most of his life by the Loomis Construction Co. of Montrose as a heavy equip- ment operator. Surviving are a brother and his wife, Gwyn and Katharine Knight of Tonawanda, N.Y. Also surviving are a niece, Carolyn Goodrich of San Diego, Ca.; and a nephew, Ted Knight of Denver. Interment, Overfield Cemetery in Meshoppen. DOROTHY M. POLLICK MCAVOY Was a PBA bowler Dorothy M. Pollick McAvoy, 80, of Valley View Park, Dallas, passed away March 19, 2005, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Plains Twp. Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Irene Wilson Pollick. She was a graduate of Coughlin High School. Before retiring, she was employed at Offset Paperback Manufacturers, Dallas. She was a member of St. Mary's of the Maternity Church, Wilkes-Barre and the PBA Traveling Bowling League. Surviving are her husband of 20 years, Charles M. and eight stepchildren. DOROTHY KREBS Lifetime member of Huntsville Christian Church Dorothy Culp Krebs, 85, of Dallas, died March 19, 2005, at the Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas. Born in Huntsville, Feb. 12, 1920, she was a daughter of the late John Milton and Hannah Jones Culp. She was the first secretary for Pennsylvania Blue Shield in Harrisburg and worked there for 36 years, retiring June 7, 1982. She was a lifetime member of Huntsville Christian Church and was active with the Serve Your City Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert R. Krebs, in 1978; and sisters, Evelyn Bettinson and Hannah Culp. Surviving are sisters, Ruth Mattern, Plains Township; Barbara C. Rave, Huntsville; brothers, Royal Culp, Kingston; Jack Culp, Kingston; nieces, Marie Fink, Julie Bitchko, Holly Brace and Kathy Michael; nephews, Jody Mattern, John, Jeff and Drew Culp, and Rob and Scott Rave; nine great-nieces and nephews. The last 4 1/2 years of her life she resided at the Meadows Nursing Center. We are all grateful for the kindness and compassion of her caregivers, the volunteers and the manage- ment. ERMA SHOTWELL A lover of crafts and a historian Erma L. Shotwell, 93, of Keelersburg Rd., Tunkhannoek, died Saturday at the home of her daughter Janet, South Eaton, Tunkhannock. She was born in South Eaton on September 18, 1911, the daughter of the late Walter B. and Mary Stroh Phillips. She was married to her late husband, Claude E. Shotwell, who passed away on April 9, 1978. She was a graduate of Tunkhannock High School. She served on the board of directors of South Eaton Cemetery for many years. She was an avid gardener, loved quilting, hand crafts and puz- zles. She also was a local his- torian. She was preceded in death by brothers, Herbert M. and Percy R. Phillips; a sister, Gladys Phillips; and grandson, Wayne Shotwell. Surviving are three sons, G. ROSE NATT She and husband operated a dairy farm Rose K. Natt, 87, of Tunkhannock, died Saturday in the General Hospital, Wilkes- Barre, following an illness. Born in the Miners Mills sec- tion of Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Johanna (Sietz) Kraintz. She owned and operated a dairy farm with her husband, John G. Natt, who died Dec. 6, 1994, and she also had worked in the local garment industry until her retirement. She was a retired member of the ILGWU, Wilkes-Barre local. She was preceded in death by a sister, Jennie Wilk. Born in Pittston, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Clara Jeffery Gay. She was a graduate of West Pittston High School. For many years she resided in Carverton before relocating to Wilkes-Barre. She was preceded in death by a son, Shawn.
