10 The Post SCHOOL Sunday, March 27, 2005 { & b t { | 3 | } Program offers firsthand look at life without hearing Through humor and inspir- ing stories, Sue Thomas, pro- foundly deaf since the age of 18 months, will take audiences on her odyssey of learning to speak and read lips at a special presentation at the Dallas Middle School on Monday, April 4, starting at 7 p.m. Thomas, who found strength through adversity, will share her personal turmoil as a youngster who was different, the challenges of living in a world of silence, and her days as a surveillance officer for the FBI. ; The program is sponsored by the Luzerne Intermediate Unit. Doors will open at 6 p.m. to provide attendees an opportuni- ty to tour an exhibit hall filled with information on child development, education, and Assistive technology.
