The tax rebate period runs through April 15, 2005. Dallas Borough Tax Collector Mark Van Etten will have office hours during the rebate period at the Dallas Borough Building on Saturday April 2 and April 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon, and on Wednesday, April 6 and April 13 from 6-7:30 p.m. Collection times are also avail- able by appointment. Kingston Township Taxpayer assistance will be provided for all Kingston Township residents for the fil- ing of 2004 local tax returns. Payments must be postmarked no later than April 15 to be eli- gible for the rebate amount. Any property owner who did not receive a tax bill must noti- fy the tax collector so records can be changed. A representative from J.P. Harris will be available at the township municipal building, 180 ‘East. . Center ':. St. Shavertown, from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on March 23. In addition, state tax return filing assistance will be provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue at the Wilkes-Barre Office for the Aging, located at 5 East Market St., Wilkes- Barre. A state representative will be available from 9 a.m. untill 4 p.m. on March 23, 24, . 25, 30, 31; and April 1,6, 7, 8 (Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays). Regular hours for the Kingston Township tax collec- tor’s office are Mondays and Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Payments may be dropped off any time in the mail slot locat- ed in the vestibule of the town- ship building. Residents with questions may call the township adminis- trative office at 696-3809. Lake Township L2ke Township property tax bills were mailed to the proper- ty owner. It is their responsibil ity to forward statements to a mortgage company or bank for payment. In addition to the hours and office location printed on the tax bills, taxes may be paid in person at the municipal build- ing on Saturday, March 26 and April 9 between 10 a.m. and noon. Office visits are available for anyone needed their PA-1000 property tax rebates complet- ed. Over 135 Girl Scouts from Service Unit 119 in the Back Mountain met Feb. 25 at Dallas High School to cele- brate World Thinking Day, a day set aside to remember and learn about Girl Scouts and Girl Guides from around the world. Throughout the evening, the girls attended stations where they learned about games, traditions, lan- guages, clothing and food from other countries. In addition, they discussed world hunger and brought in contributions for the Back Mountain Food Pantry. Brownie scouts earned the Playing Games Around the World Try It and Junior Scouts earned the World Neighbor badge. Cadette Girl Scouts helped out during the evening by escorting groups of scouts from one station to another.
