Food and fun at County Courthouse “An Evening Around the World,” a Junior League of Wilkes-Barre fundraiser, will be held at the Luzerne County Courthouse Sunday, April 10, beginning at 5 p.m. The ele- gant evening will be an unusu- al chance to savor the beauty of the building at a leisurely pace, strolling from one restau- rant’s station to another. Diners will sample appetiz- ers, entrees and desserts from approximately 15 restaurants, including Brutico’s, of Old Forge; Damenti’s, of Mountain Top; Gelpia’z Restaurant & Manhattan Lounge, of Kingston; Grico’s, of Exeter; and Vino Dolce, of Hanover Township. Various ethnic cuisines will be featured. Several chefs will do cooking demonstrations in the rotunda. A wine expert will explain the pairings of food and wine. Guests will leave with recipes from the restaurants. There will also be a Chinese auction and raffle. Through Mar. 28 - PHOTO EXHIBIT John Thomas Berezich, of Trucksville, a stu- dent in the Luzerne County Community College visual communications program, will hold a photography exhibit of his work at the col- lege's Campus Center, multi- purpose room. The exhibit will be open to the public on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from1to 3 p.m, The cornerstone for the Classical Revival style Courthouse was laid in 1906 at the height of the region’s pros- perity. Mosaics and murals tell the story of the county’s histo- ry. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places because of its architectural value. The event will raise money for Junior League projects, mainly its new Backpack Project. Starting this summer, the Junior League will donate backpacks full of notebooks, paper, crayons, pencils and other school supplies to schools in Luzerne County, which will give them to under- privileged children. The money will also help prepare a Teen Resource Directory, a guide- book of agencies that serve teens. Admission, by reservation only, is $50 per person. The deadline for reservations is April 1. Circus is coming to town The Dazzling Diablos bring an incredible display of juggling skill and dexterity to the Irem Shrine Circus, which will make a stop at the Kingston Armory March 28-April 2. Irene and Giovanni Anastasini have performed around the world, using skills honed over eight gener- ations of their family.
