Staff report Feb. 25 — Tim Crossin poured in 35 points, 13 in the fourth quarter, and Josh Aciukewicz added 21 as Bishop O'Reilly cruised to an 85-63 victory over the Bishop Hannan Golden Lancers to win the District 2 Class A champi- onship before a packed house at Scandlon Gymnasium. Bishop O'Reilly (25-4) faced District 11 runner-up Pius X (19-8) in the first round of the state tournament Saturday. ! Returning par- ticipants can register on Tuesday, March 8, from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m. at the Lake-Lehman High School cafeteria. New partici- pants will register on Tuesday, March 15, at the same time and place. There is a $40 registration fee per child and copies of birth certificate, insurance coverage and a recent photo of the child must be provided at signup. Participants must be age 7 by August 1, 2005. Youth basketball tournament North American Youth Sports is holding a spring basketball tournament at the University of Scranton for boys and girls in grades five through 12. Games will be held March 11, 12, and 13. There will be a $100 entry fee, per team, and each team is guar- anteed two games. Medals will be awarded for first and second place. Feb. 26 — Dallas won six of 12 medals at the District 2 Class 2A Diving Championships, including both gold medals and a sweep of the top three girls places. Junior Alaric Eby won the boys title for the third consecu- tive year with a dominating performance that led second- place finisher Cullen Boyle of Bishop Hoban by 84 points. Michael Glicini won fifth place in the boys competition. Whitney Bolton, a senior, won the girls title, followed by Erica Lisses and Sarah Rupert. Shannon Dingle finished sixth. Eby, Bolton and Lisses will advance to the PIAA State Championship meet, March 16-19 at Bucknell University, Lewisburg. Eby finished fourth in the state last year and Bolton was 14th. Final BMT Baseball signups Back Mountain Baseball will conduct final signups for new and returning players on Monday, March 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dallas American Legion. Registrations are for T-Ball, Little League, softball and junior and senior league players. Boys and girls who will be age 6 by August 1, 2005 are eligible. All new play- ers must have a birth certificate and Social Security number to reg- ister. Cost of registration is $45 per player, plus fund raising. American Legion Baseball signups Back Mountain Junior and Senior American Legion Baseball will be holding signups on Sunday, March 6, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the American Legion Post 672 in Dallas. Boys age 13-19 in the Dallas or Lake-Lehman school districts are eligible. There is no fee at signups, meeting is informational. Tryouts will be held later in the spring.
