Lehman managed to swap decisions in the final bouts with Chad Brudnicki (20-2) scoring a major decision at 145 to give the Knights the victory margin. Key to the victory were wins won by Simko, Brudnicki, Stark and Andrew Chorba over highly-ranked opponents. At 210 Ibs. See WRESTLING, pg © Mounts way ahead in Back Mountain Cup The race for the 2004-05 Back Mountain Cup appears to be all over but the cheering. Dallas has taken a com- manding 11-3 lead in the annual competition, which is decided by the record in regular-season meetings between the Dallas and Lake-Lehman varsity sports teams. The Black Knights have managed to win only at girls volleyball, field hockey and wrestling, all their traditional power sports. There also was a tie in boys cross country, - with Dallas winning the match on a tiebreaker. Other than wrestling, the Mountaineers swept the win- ter season, but the Lady Knights made things interesting in both girls basketball matchups. On Jan. 7, Dallas pulled out a 57-54 win, and things were even closer on Jan. 31, with the Lady Mounts winning a 52-50 squeaker. It’s still mathematically possible for Lake-Lehman to turn things around by sweeping the spring sports. Lake-Lehman won the inaugural 2002-03 year of the Cup, riding a strong fall sports showing in which they lost only one match to a 14-9 victory margin. Dallas finished the 2003-04 race with double wins in baseball and softball to claim the trophy by a 15.5 to 6.5 advantage. The handsome Back Mountain Cup trophy is the See BMT CUP, pg 9 Kingston Twp.
