Chris Kester knocked down four 3-pointers and finished with 14 points for O'Reilly and Josh Aciukewicz added 12 points. Valley West 64, Tunkhannock 55 Jan. 4 — Spencer Lunger scored 20 points for Tunkhannock and teammate Brendon Mulhern added 17. Lake-Lehman 44, Northwest 29 Jan. 4 — Caleb Piatt scored 15 points and Chris Boyle added 12 to lead Lake-Lehman, which outscored Northwest 25- 10 in the second half to pull away. Crestwood 66, Bishop O'Reilly 46 Dec. 30 — Crestwood con- trolled the boards, attacked the lane and kept the tempo up in a 66-46 victory in the final of the 33rd John T. Munley Tournament. O’Reilly’s 6-foot-5 center Josh Aciukewicz missed the game with a touch of the flu and a minor ankle injury. | O'Reilly senior guard Tim Crossin tried desperately to will his team back into the game. He scored 23 points before fouling out with his second charge in a little more than a minute with 3:23 to play. Crossin hit consecutive three- pointers, followed by a trey from Chris DeRojas and then Pete Federici drew O’Reilly within 48-43 with a layup with 4:45 left in the game. Tunkhannock 77, West Side Tech 24 Dec. 30 — In the consolation game of the 33rd John T. Munley Tournament, Tunkhannock jumped out to a 49-9 halftime lead and convert- ed nine treys in a 77-24 win over West Side Tech. Brendan Mulhern led four Tigers in double-figures with 15 points. Spencer Lunger added 13, Donnie Seymore scored 12 points and Colin Hopkins had 11. Bishop O'Reilly 56, Tunkhannock 47 Dec. 29 — Bishop O'Reilly outscored Tunkhannock 22-4 in the final five minutes to down the Tigers, 56-47 in the opening round of the John T. Munley Sherree Horvath drove around Hoban's Alexandra Downing. With 2:34 left to play, O'Reilly’ sTim Crossin sank a jumper, was fouled on the play and made the free-throw to give O'Reilly 46- 45 lead. Brendan Mulhern scored a game-high 24 points to lead Tunkhannock. Crossin added 13 points for the Queensmen. GIRLS BASKETBALL Dallas 57, GAR 49 Jan. 3 — Melissa Gorski scored eight of her 10 points in the first quarter to help Dallas jump out to an 18-8 lead and the Mountaineers held off GAR the rest of the way. Cassie Snider paced Dallas with 20 points, and Cory Patton added 11 points and Brittany Allan pitched in with 10. Patton nailed three 3-point shots and Gorski hit two. Bishop Hoban 39, Lake-Lehman 34 Jan. 3 — Bishop Hoban outscored Lake-Lehman 84 in the fourth to pull out the win. Lake-Lehman’s Tina Watkins led all scorers with 12 points. Sheree Horvath followed with eight. FOR THE POST/CHARLOTTE BARTIZEK K of C free throw contest Jan. 15 Back Mountain Knights of Columbus Council 8224 will holda ~~ | basketball free throw contest on 2 pm, at the Gate of Heaven Church gym, Machell Ave., Dallas. All boys and girls between the ages 10 to 14 are invited to partic- ipate. The winner from each of the 10 age/gender categories will advance to regional competition. The Rock Recreation Center in Trucksville will host a 3-on-3 basketball league for men 35 and over and 18 and over. The games for older players will be played Tuesday, beginning January 18. Younger players will play Thursdays beginning January 20. The entry fee is $100 per team, plus a referee fee. There is a maximum of five players per team. For more informa- tion, call 696-2769.
